For all those thirsty for something different, powerful and inspirational, look no further! Elete, Left Field and Tommy Chase make up the New Jersey-based hip-hop trio, St. Joe Louis. The three have been writing, recording and performing together for nearly a decade, mastering the art of rhyming, timing and storytelling. Elete describes the group’s style as “the feeling minus the ceilingâ€, meaning that the sky is the limit as they draw inspiration from various genres, including rock, jazz and soul and have no problem experimenting with different sounds and flows.
The New Jersey trio takes a very unique and artistic approach to hip-hop and combines pure lyricism with a variety of hard-knocking beats. Their versatility is definitely an asset and they have something for everyone. Some songs make you want to dance, while others make you think.
St. Joe Louis’ style is indescribable and hard to categorize. However, fans of Lupe Fiasco, OutKast and Little Brother will definitely appreciate the mood music produced by the group. Each individual in St. Joe Louis brings his own personal swagger.
“Elete†is the street-smart, witty master of wordplay and also the producer in the group. His lyrics and energetic delivery resulted in him being the 2007 End of the Week United States Champion. “Left Field†is the hook-writer, the thinker and the most unpredictable. He is very abstract at times and always delivers food for thought. He was nick-named Left Field because of his unpredictability and his tendency to hit you with something out of the blue. “Tommy Chase†distinguishes himself from the other two members with his rapid-fire delivery and his straightforward lyrics. Never biting his tongue and coming in with a flawless flow, Chase makes himself known.
St. Joe Louis, formerly known as “Prizm†has the experience, the drive and the talent to make a lasting impact on the music industry. Over the years they have opened up for artists such as Mos Def, Talib Kweli and The Roots. They have shared the stage and collaborated with well-known indie artists such as Crayz Walz, Pumpkinhead, Chief Kamachi, Joe Buddens, Breez Evaflowin, Nucci Reyo, Medinah Starr, Access Immortal and Vast Aire.
In late 2007, St. Joe Louis signed with Introspect Records, a Philadelphia-based independent record label providing promotion and distribution for the group’s debut album, “The Late Arrivalâ€. After parting ways with their former label and encountering numerous setbacks, St. Joe Louis is finally here! A little late, but they are here, so hold on and brace yourself for the ride.
