Electric Ladyland “It was forty Years ago todayâ€
Electric Ladyland 40 years celebration concert.
Jimi Hendrix secured his throne in psychedelic rock’s Olympus with the completion of Electric Ladyland 1968. The double album was the final and brightest jewel in the acid-and-paisley-era trilogy he’d begun in 1967 with his debut full-length Are You Experienced and the next year’s Axis: Bold As Love. Right now Ducks Can Groove is working hard recreating this masterpiece in an extravaganza live tour, all 16 psychedelic blues, R&B, pop songs!! Complete with tape delay, flute, pull flute, organ, piano, vibra slap, acoustic guitar, saxophone, flexatone, kazoo, congas, tambourine,, yes they are all there if you listen close :-) There are some shows booked, but of course we are interested in getting many more gigs, got an idea or question? Stefan Edfeldt is of course a dedicated fan, playing the same models of guitar as Hendrix, through electrical equipment of the right vintage. This is a psychedelic throwback into Jimi's lush tonal world!
Live on stage, Jimi seldom played his tunes in a set way. His arrangements varied from night to night during the tours. The way they were recorded and heard on vinyl, was only used as framework for building live improvisations around. We try and emulate this approach when playing Jimi's tunes. We jam and have a good time, around the framework Jimi provided. Our goal is to try and recreate a little bit of the feeling that would meet an audience when seeing and hearing Jimi Hendrix live on stage. This is of course an impossible task, but we're crazy enough to try and pull it off. We approach Jimi's music truly seriously. Seriously and joyfully!
Concert Review: Jimi Hendrix Tribute (N.Y.C. BB-Kings Bluesclub 11/27/2006) Then (Ducks Can Groove) I never heard of before took the stage and TORE UP songs like "3rd Stone from the Sun and Tax Free. The crowd went NUTS over these two songs because these were some stank azz nasty Hendrix covers! Bob Davis / Music Bluenote
Concert Review: Jimi Hendrix Tribute (N.Y.C. BB-Kings Bluesclub 11/27/2006) The closest I saw anyone play to Jimi this night was Ducks Can Groove, the Swedish band. Top notch stuff, especially impressive was their version of “3:rd stone from the sun†They closed the event with “Taxfree†“Electric†Dave Lawrence / Univibes (International Jimi Hendrix magazine)
DUCKS CAN GROOVE Electric voodoo vibe A heavy live recording from burning Swedish band paying their tribute to Jimi Hendrix, with excellent sound, This is a concert Jimi would have been proud off, especially in the guitar work. Guitarist Stefan Edfeldt really keeps those strings alive and screaming. Tracks include; "Are you experienced", "Manic depression", "Machine gun", "3rd stone from the sun", "I don't live today", "Dolly Dagger", "Villanova junction", "Ezy rider", "Hear my train a comin" and "Hey baby" .~GROOVEYA~06~US-06~ / Record Heaven.
DUCKS CAN GROOVE Electric voodoo vibe. Drummer Dan West looks and sounds like a white Buddy Miles and bassist Fredrik Eriksson does a good job fitting Noel Redding’s shoes. But, it's Edfeldt that’s the focal point of the show. He doesn’t attempt any of the Hendrix theatrics, taking command of his vintage Stratocaster and effect pedals to capture Hendrix's tonal qualities while still being able to put his own inspiration into his heartfelt tribute. Edfeldt..s vocals lack the rich sensuality of Jimi’s, but his replication of Hendrix's guitar work more than makes up for that slight shortcoming. – Ken Voss, Voodoo Child Magazine
â€Good luck with the amazing music, God Bless†/ Leon Hendrix
â€As a longtime Jimi-oholic I lost my breath more than once when listening to Stefans authentic licks and insanely accurate sound. Genuine and classic – world-class!†Emil Fredholm / Plankton. (Grooveyard Records recording artist)
"The most autentic Hendrix-act I..ve heard!, and Stefan..s guitarplaying is like listening to The Great Man himself." MBN & Ruf Recording Artist - Peer Gynt
He certainly is a lot more tasteful and passionate In his playing than a lot of other guys I have heard Other play Jimi’s music. There were actually times When it sounded just like him! - Bob Elliot, Canada (Hendrix expert researcher)
- Individually they are highly skilled musicians and, collectively, they are a force to be reckoned with. - All of the performances are full of fire and imaginative collaboration. - Edfeldt..s guitar playing reflects the strongest Hendrix influence of all those reviewed here. - These guys are great. – Experience Hendrix
- This one is certainly worth a listen. - It..s straight down the middle, driving rock, more than competenly performed and well recorded at, where else but Third Stone Studios. Very Good. - Jimpress
