I'm too much of a movie nerd to name them all but: Lynch movies (Blue Velvet in particular knocked my socks on my ass), Fellini's 8 1/2, Coen brothers shit, Chinatown , The Usual Suspects (I love the noir), Midnight Cowboy, Blow-Up, City of God, Amor es Perros, Army of Darkness, Troma movies, and of course loads of arthouse horror: Argemto (DEEP FUCKING RED), Romero, Fulci (straight gore shitz), Cannibal Ferox
I try not to watch t.v. due to moronic programming and needless radiation. But I love Mr. Show. Curb Your Enthusiasm is also hilarious. And I suppose I'm a sucker for the Daily Show, and, in a pinch, Conan. Is that to mainstream for you?
I'm into existentialism and the beat generation shit. I also like poetry (Neruda, Dylan Thomas, e.e. cummings, ginsberg, ferlinghetti, plath,) .... As for contemporary stuff, Jose Saramago comes to mind, as well as Dogson cause he doesn't make sense.
