Vito's experience in sculpturing begins in the mid seventies. Originally a wooden boats builder and fitter by trade, Vito is the latest in a long family line of "Maestri d'Ascia" (masters of axe). Expert of various types of wood will recognize the essence, and then use the rental within boats and larger ships. His skill consisted in the shaping; adapting the strains of the wood to what was then its final function. This operation of shaping so precisely was done with a tool called axe.
After many years Vito decided for retirement and, with NO electronic aid what-so-ever, and a discrete selection of wood at his disposal, started to work the wood in a more inspired and artistic way, believing in FORM BEFORE FUNCTION, and that art should be "alive" as opposed to solely decorative. His unique but extremely realistic perception of form and prospective, delivers an exceptionally detailed tridimention, of anything his imagination conjours up.
