Nivaira began as a two musician band, featuring Diana Alieva on vocals and keyboards, and David Tordera on vocals and guitars. Nivaira is the name of a legendary fairy of the snow which exists in the Pyrenees, whose beauty is irresistible but from whom just one kiss is lethal. The band is called Nivaira because it represents the joining point of the two former members. Diana comes from St. Petersburg, Russia, an icy country, whereas David comes from Catalunya, a land that, though being rather southern, has the high and snowy mountains of Pyrenees. This simple line up performed four gigs, but soon enough we realized that what we really wanted is to rock like hell. So, instead of just entertaining “serious†people with music played at a rather soft volume and without any fast drums, we decided to invite Dani Ruiz (drums), his brother David Ruiz (bass) and David Tordera’s brother Josep (guitar) to join us. They accepted without hesitation and there it is, Nivaira, a band ready to ROCK! For that purpose we’ve started a project of exchanges with other bands. It consists in inviting bands to play some gigs with us in our area, sharing our equipment, shelter and so on, and after that, the guest band invites us to play some other gigs in their homeland, again sharing equipment, so no one needs to travel with amps, drums and stuff. At the moment, we have such project going on, so we are making an exchange with the awesome Finnish band Thaurorod. Gig dates and stuff are written in our website! So far we’ve released one record, called “The Cityâ€, recorded in Bled, Slovenia, at dbrecordings studio. By the way, we strongly recomend that studio.
