Four powerpop enthusiasts consisting of songwriter Hana on vocals and guitars, Syamil on guitars, Zaza on bass and Alijo on drums. While each member cited different influences ranging from Beatles to Rooney to influential post hardcore band like Glassjaw; their music is still very much in touch with its power pop meets garage rock leanings.
Lucy in the Loo started in the 2001 as an all girl trio. Hailing from Bandar Baru Bangi, a suburb area in Selangor, Hana, Allia and Akma had mutual interests’ in bands like Weezer, Letters to Cleo and Ash. After a major reshuffling of band members, only Hana is left as the founding member of the band.
Now down to a trio with Hana on vocals and guitars, Syamil on lead guitars, and Alijo on drums, we spent the most of 2006 getting ourselves new gears and rehearsing with some new materials. New songs are still being written and/or scrapped as we speak and we're looking to record the songs in the near future with our current sessionist on bass, Zay.
We have had the honour to play some really memorable gigs in the past year including the Radio Malaya Launch, Amir's One Night Stand, RockTheWorld 7 at Stadium Merdeka and Project Bazooka at Laundry to top the year off on a high note.
Here's to a more productive year ahead.
