hmmmm... the first octalux show was pretty badass... went to see'em rock out in tennessee, yea... pretty cool show... melted my face and saw rock wasn't completely dead yet, and then the darth vader... everything was a blur after, someone by the same of hurley aka lead singer of octalux (who still has a lawsuit pending b/c of this night, that's right, i'm suing you bitch) decided he was going to come up with satans mix of hell in a cup... I have jumped at any opportunity to chug a beverage... and then.... the drink named darth vader... murdered my life... i'll never get it back... and i still can't remember where the bump on my head came from... all i remember is playing toe war with a girl......... what the hell is toe war?
A Fan's Review of all our tunes, thanks a million stephanie!:
Octalux: Something for Everyone
By Stephanie Shepherd
Octalux is a band that rocks on their own terms. Their 2001 release “From the Planet of Love†offers moody vocals set to a background of fierce guitar riffs that take you to soaring and unexpected heights. The CD opens with “Zilch†which quickly explodes into Mötorhead-like ferocity. They switch gears on “Just Temporary,†a modern take on the classic power ballad style that features highly emotive vocals piercing through thickly distorted guitars. They combine these classic elements into a song that’s fresh and entrancing. “Look @ You†is a mid-tempo mindfuck strangely reminiscent of Danzig, but whose overall sound is uniquely Octalux. The band oozes their brand of rock n’ roll attitude on “Static,†“Skin,†“400 Miles,†and “Supazumatic Bizzo Queen,†mingling nuances of 80’s, 90’s and current hard rock into a sound that can only be described in one word: Octalux. On their latest release, “Loud, Fast, and Awesome,†Octalux took a leap into a more polished sound, blending elements of pop punk with their signature heavy rock. Songs like “Razorblades and Sutures†and “Grrl From Toledo†have Green Day-esque melodies, while the in your face assault of “Electric Sex†declares that this band is here to whip you into a rock frenzy. Ironically enough, they even manage to pull off a cover of Poison’s 1989 hair metal hit “Every Rose Has its Thorn†with an amped up punk beat. Overall, the album boasts high tempo rock chaos and balances it with just enough pop punk melody to create a pleasingly modern sound.Whichever Octalux songs make their way into your I-pod or CD player, one thing is clear; pretty soon everyone will in fact be, as they so brazenly declare, “digging on the Octalux sound, and that’s just the way I like it.â€
