PBS
Currently reading:"Wicked, The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" Gregory Maguire. "to be real; telling the truth and changing the face of feminism" Rebecca Walker/ Gloria Steinem. T. Capote short stories. "A Confederacy of Dunces" John Kennedy Toole.
Currently needs to be purchased/borrowed: A touch o' history.
Currently on the back burner: Eve Enslers "The Good Body". Thanks to JMB: "Three to get Deadly" by Janet Edirkadirka, Lynda Curnyn "Bombshell", Kren Kendall "Who's on Top?", Millie Criswell "No Strings Attached", Stella Bagwell "From Here to Texas", Joan Hohl "Cutting Through", Janet Evanovich "Two for the Dough" and last but certainly not least Kristin Hardy "U.S. Male".
Currently coveting:"The Tender Bar" a memoir by J.R. Moehringer.
Always Current: Bitch Magazine, Bust magazine, sicko tabloid mags with a sharpie.
Currently done with: "Breakfast at Tiffany's" Truman Capote. "The Essential Grizzly: the mingled fates of men and bears" By Doug and Andrea Peacock. Noah Levine "Dharma Punx" a memoir(thank you, Lau). "Toast" Nigel Slater. Eve Enslers "The Vagina Monologues". Janet Evanovich "One for the Money" ."Naked" by David Sedaris. It was a gift (thank you, Michelle). "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris (so fucking funny). "The Tender Bar" a memoir by J.R. Moehringer (A great book, however it paralleled my own young life so much so that I would drift off two thousand miles and it took me forever to get through it)
Currently avoiding: I think my mother may have sent me erotica, I'm not so sure. The title is "U.S. Male" with a photo of a mans abdomen and some stamps. Weird.
Currently currently: My absolute favorite author is Bill Bryson. I honestly considered writing him and asking him to drive to Texas with me from Rhode Island. It would have been his next book. Anyway, everyone must read "In a Sunburnt Country", or anything from Bill for that matter. On another note "Love in the Time of Cholera" had sent me further away then any other book before it.
Autobiography in Five Chapters
By Portia Nelson
Chapter I
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
Chapter II
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I'm in the same place, but it isn't my
fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
Chapter III
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in...it's a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
Chapter IV
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter V
I walk down another street.
Stuffed with meat and cheese.
