He began to follow the hip hop scene when he found himself inspired by artists such as Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls, Big L, and the Wu-Tang Clan. It was this influence that motivated a young Steven to begin seriously writing his own rhymes.By the age of 12 Steven was already battling and participating in free style competitions, thus gaining early recognition in the rap game. In 1996 he started a three member crew he named D.I.C.E, (Dangerous In Cautious Environments). After a year Stevens crew disbanded and he took on the name DYCE, (Danger! Your Cautious Environments).Dyce became an adopted child of the military at age 15, and moved to Hawaii in 2003 where he lived for two years. The culture shock effectively heightened Dyces performance abilities. He learned the art of showmanship and believes in giving every audience a performance they will never forget. As a free spirit and what some would call a troubled youth, Dyce experienced problems with the law and left Hawaii in order to turn his life around.After returning to NYC, Dyce turned over a new leaf and decided to take a break from the Hip Hop scene. He worked long hours in retail and took his time off from rhyming to determine what he wanted to do with his future. As Hip Hop was his passion Dyce promised himself that he would work on perfecting his craft, and knew it was inevitable that he would return to Hip Hop.In the year of 2007 on sep 30th ,two weeks after the death of his little brother Chaid, his oldest sister Tyeve was involve in a car accident which was the cause of her death. Dyce counts his blessings, and dedicates his career to his two angels up above"i gotta make it for them,me and my family, hard work and passion is my motivation" he replies.He assumed the performance surname of Payne to remind him of where he came from and where he intended on going, with this in mind Dyce Payne was born. Dyces return to Hip Hop occurred when he was called out to battle. He has since continually worked hard on writing music that ranges on light hearted and spirited to soulful and inspirational. Currently, he is 88 and 1 on the battle scene. With the assistance of his friends and the support of his family Dyce has teamed up with his current Production Company, Truth Definitive. Under the management of Blacque Southerland, of HSS&A, Inc, Dyce has completed his series amount of Mix Tapes, and is working on another series of development projects.SHOUT OUTZ TO THE DEF TOUCH FAM!
