About Me

A brief history of The Neurotiks:
Me and Ned have known each other since we were 3 and 2 years old and have been playing in punk bands together since we were 13 and 12 years old. Steve was my stepbrother who had just moved to America from Belgium. One night we went out with our friends from a D.C. area band called Missionary Position to flyer for a show they were playing the next night. We were at a coffee shop in Virginia and got into a fist fight with a couple of nazi-skinheads, there was a punk kid there that none of us knew that jumped in on our side. As we ran back to our car from the fight, we handed the punk kid a flyer and said he should come to the show, he said he’d be there, his name was Tony. He showed up to the show the next night and we decided we should do a band together. We all loved the same music; early American hardcore and some of the early British hardcore stuff too. The Neurotiks were born. It was Spring of ‘95, we had what would be some of the only practices we ever had. We were a band for 2 years and only really practiced the first 6 months we were together which is why we never had any new songs and why we usually sucked so bad. At our young ages (Tony was 16, the rest of us were 15) we didn’t have much (if any) musical or lyrical talent, but what we lacked in talent we made up for in balls-out punk-rock heart. We drank, we fought, we played sloppy, loud, fast music and most of all we didn’t give a fuck what anyone thought about us. January ‘96 we recorded at Inner Ear Studios and released the songs on a few compilations and a split 7” with Portland, Oregon legends, THE RICKETS. Around Spring of ‘97 we realized we were never gonna practice or write new songs so we decided to call it quits. In February of ‘98 we got back together and played one last show at the Kaffa House in D.C. Right before we played the kid working the door got robbed at gunpoint for all of the door money (just shows how much D.C. has changed in 10 years). Tony moved to Richmond, Va. and went on to sing for THE DIRTY FINGERS and BAD ADVICE and runs RIFF-RAFF RECORDS. I went on to play in WORN THIN, SET TO EXPLODE and THE SLUMLORDS. Ned went on to play in THE GOONS and THE SHIRKS. Steve is a farmer in North Carolina.
