Harry Potter (it goes without saying), Malorie blackman... the noughts and crosses trilogy (it made me cry), pride and prejudice, those Philip Pullman books, hitch hikers's guide to the galaxy (although it does tend to drag on a bit ther are moments of geniousness), anything by Tom Holt.
