About Me
"Secret Service," aka "Secret Cervix," (and, sometimes, "Chihuahua Fluorescente") snuck onto the Chico music scene in December 1984, making their debut appearance at CSU, Chico's Laxson Auditorium. (They were known as "Technical Difficulties" at that time...) The quartet featured three females: Linda Martinez and Norma Ybarra, each on guitar and vocals, and Karen Kindig on bass guitar and vocals. Laying down the beats was lone male, Carey Wilson. A year later, after Ms. Martinez left the scene, a re-grouping of the band included Dave Hurst on keyboards, Matt Myrehn on guitar and vocals, and Doug Roberts on trumpet and vocals. Adding to the fun were the "Secret Cervix" go-go dancers: Sheila, Laurel, and, sometimes, Margaret. The band played all the premier Chico venues, including: The Palmz, The Ping Pong Palace, The Ice House, Trader Pang's, Melody Hall, and The Graffitti Club. A 20-year reunion concert took place in 2005, with another reunion scheduled for June 2009. Stay tuned!
