About Me

SHAMELESS BAND PLUG --- Psychostick --- SHAMELESS BAND PLUG

I'm Josh. I like stuff. Stuff includes music, recording, computers, gaming, discussions on psychology, philosophy, cool science stuff, pretty much anything where new and intriguing concepts are involved. For those familiar with Myers Briggs, I'm an INTP. Damn that sounds geeky. Wait a second, I'm like, MEGA DORK in denial! Cool. I'm in a dumb-heavy metal band called Psychostick (http://www.psychostick.com), which you would think would make me cool, but I assure you, it does not.

For any fellow guitarists wondering what guitar I play on, I play on a Michael Kelly Patriot Custom (black), and a Valor Limited. I dig the hell out of both.

My Interests

Buncha stuff... science/physics, philosophy/spirituality, business, music, sociology/marketing, psychology, personal growth, personality psychology (Myers Briggs, Enneagram), studio recording/mixing, guitar, trumpet, percussion, computers, game programming, C++, gaming, concerts, B-movies (all hail Bruce Cambell!), sci-fi movies, intelligent movies such as Memento, Sixth Sense, Mindwalk... slapstick comedies such as Mel Brooks movies, Hot Shots or Monty Python (Steve Oedekirk rules all), Martial arts flicks, heavier bands like Sevendust, Machine Head, Glassjaw, Pantera, Hatebreed, etc, webpages/programming, cats/animals, trying new types of beer, and good food.

I'd like to meet:

Alright, I'm back. In general I just want to meet generally positive people. That means after interracting with the person I walk away feeling uplifted, happier, or just glad to have talked to them. The opposite of that would be someone who is whiney, negative, judgemental, arrogant, or generally a jerk.

Music:

Sevendust, Pantera, Machine Head, Stuck Mojo, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Soulfly, Glassjaw, Brand New, Meshuggah, Dream Theater, Chevelle, Bloodsimple, Otep, Nothingface, From Zero, Sepultura, Prong, Taproot, old Metallica (Pre-Load), The Used, The Aquabats, Thrice, Chimaira, Beyond the Now, Lifer, Weird Al, Tenacious D, Wynton Marsalis, drum corps, symphonic music in general, anything with wailing trumpets.

Movies:

Memento, Signs, Mindwalk, What the *Bleep* Do We Know, American Beauty, The Sixth Sense, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Run Lola Run, Aliens, Star Wars Trilogy, Star Trek 2, Matrix Trilogy, The Evil Dead Trilogy, Fight Club, Kung-Pow, UHF, Tron, Cube

Television:

Invader Zim, Family Guy, the Simpsons, Mystery Science Theater 3000.... but I don't really watch normal TV, I only watch those above from DVDs. Does that count?

Books:

Needful Things, Think and Grow Rich, Rich Dad/Poor Dad, The Tipping Point, Guide to Rational Living, Prisoners of Childhood, Confessions of a Record Producer

Heroes:

Bruce Lee, Steve Oedekirk, Bruce Campbell, Fred Alan Wolf, Michael Beckwith, Robert Kiyosaki, Ron LeGrand, Gerald Romine, William Arntz, Carl Jung, Stephen Hawking, Albert Einstein, Jesus, Christopher Columbus

For those of you wondering what it's like to be in a touring band...

So, after 2 consecutive tours and planning the 3rd one, selling a respectable amount of cds and reaching a point that I would consider ourselves a "successful band", I had to step back and ask myself:...

Touring is simply UNDESCRIBABLE.

I'm sitting here typing this on a computer at a fan's house who was kind enough to let us crash at their place in Columbus, Ohio. Do you know how weird it is to say that? I've never been to Ohio, neve...
