About Me

I am an artist based in British Columbia Canada. Artist is a title having many different meanings, but that is appropriate in this case since I am multi talented.Although Edgar Allan Poe once stated:'Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term Art, I should call it 'the reproduction of what the Senses perceive in Nature through the veil of the soul.' The mere imitation, however accurate, of what is in Nature, entitles no man to the sacred name of 'Artist.' I draw a lot. Not as much as I used to but I still draw very well. I started out with a comic book style and now I’m more into the open shading form. Mostly anything goes with drawing. You can’t be limited. I am mostly self taught but have had minor training from library books and my high school arts teacher. I write too. Stories mostly. Macabre as some of my work has been I would say I take after Edgar Allan Poe. I like the dark sinister, twisted, obscure form of stories. The things that keep a person up at night are sometimes things left unsaid. Stephen King and Dean Koontz have been inspirational in my reading endeavors and I must accredit them indefatigably for helping me write for my own purposes. I write under the pseudonym (non de plume) J.R. Haidenson (James Randolph Haidenson) on allpoetry.com.I’m getting fonder of poetry as well. Though I couldn’t name you a poet if I tried. I am buying poetry books now along with my other books all in collegial effort to improve my learning and fine tuning my brain. I also write songs. I have written many and discarded many also. I currently have enough material for a CD.I would like to be a coffee shop artist. Play in various coffee houses and just sell enough music to get me by. As you can tell I love art in any form. Being aesthetic, art takes many forms. One can make a mistake by saying that art is only aesthetic and not intellectually based and that artist aren’t intellectually inclined, but then the question is; what is art if not a manifestation of the heart and mind? Life is like art and I believe that if one looks hard enough, one can make anything from anything. I tend to withdraw in my own thoughts if left unoccupied for a duration of time. On June 9 2007 I will marry my long time friend turned lover Lisa. Our relationship is awesome. I have my best friend as a wife, what more could a guy ask for? She is stunningly beautiful and just plain out awesome. I am looking forward to marriage. I know that it is hard work and that sacrifices are made daily. But I will devote my love and time to being a great husband.I’m looking forward to a couple of tattoos in the future. I am fond of my French heritage so the first thing I’m getting done is a fleur de lis on my left forearm. I wouldn’t mind a (L) for Lisa on my left hand ring finger. Of course nobody will see the tattoo under the wedding band, but it’s a reminder of the commitment. The other tattoos can be thought up as I go.FUTURE PLAN’S: Coffee house. I want a place that is unlike any other coffee house on earth. My love affair with coffee has made me think of a cool place where music (acoustic) is played every Friday/Saturday and poetry read on Wednesday’s, but in a night club-ish setting.Me and Lisa are talking about maybe moving to England or France in the future. The way of life in Europe is quite quiet and peaceful. I like the idea of it. I love France and England so I’m looking forward to see how it all works out.
