uplifting music for low-lives

About Me

///BIOI'm not a fan of bios so I'm going to take advantage of you looking at my page and have a little discussion with you about music. I love it, I'm part of it, and it's part of me. I think too often in this lovely world we call electronic music, people really forget that, at the end of the day, it's..... music. Many people say trance is dead and I agree on some counts but strongly disagree on others. I wouldn't say trance is "dead". Maybe song titles like "lost in space" and "galaxy euphoria" and the always original "ecstasy" are dead. Within thoses titles live a really strong yearning for the past and the way it used to be, the way the clubs used to be, and the way the DJs were. You could call it dead, but it evolved. Trance music and electronic music in general have moved from being music that we listen to in the club on Saturday night, to music we all participate in, we all buy, and we all listen to on our iPods. For me, electronic music has become the soundtrack of my life, be it an IDM or ambient song by some crazy-named producer or the latest trance megahit. Thus, that's the angle I want my music to come from. My life experiences or something that happened today will translate to a song. Seeing something on TV that triggers emotion in me will translate to a song. I don't want my song titles to be "euphoria" or "galactic space module", I want them to say something about myself, where I was last night, or the sad phone call I just got from my relatives. Call it cheesy but that's music. Too many producers forget that "trance music" is "music". Too many producers put days-worth of work into getting the compression levels just right or timing the filter automation perfectly or lowering the wetness level on the synth. That's all cool and all but sometime, along the way, the melody was lost, the feeling and emotion jumped out of the car. I do my best to put forth a professional-sounding track for you, but at the heart of everything is not "how banging is this gunna sound on a club system at 4AM", it's more about "will this give me chills" or "will this make me think about how my day went." That's what music is to me ;)
