About Me

who what am i? my answer: i am the sum total of everything that went before me, of all i have been seen done, of everything done-to-me. i am everyone everything whose being-in-the-world affected was affected by mine. i am anything that happens after i've gone which would not have happened if i had not come. nor am i particularly exceptional in this matter; each "I", every one of the now-six-hundred-million-plus of us, contains a similar multitude. i repeat for the last time: to understand me, you'll have to swallow a world. -salman rushdie

My Interests

bicylces,, bike grease under my nails,, rummaging through music store bins and shelves,, squatting in streams,, reading all the time, anytime,, sleeping in tents,, volunteering,, crocheting,, talking to strangers,, talking to friends,, watching weird documentaries that sometimes i get and sometimes i don't,, baking,, whiskey,, this that and the other thing. mostly the other thing.

I'd like to meet:

as oscar wilde once said, "it is absurd to divide people into good or bad. People are either charming or tedious". Please be the former and not the latter.

Music:

(or things i listen to): NPR, This American Life, gogol bordello, talib kweli, old outkast albums, stevie wonder, springsteen, the clash, cat power, elliot smith, anything with a violin, or a cello, mirah, iron and wine, neko case, neutral milk hotel, the shins, etc. etc. etc.

Movies:

when its dark out, or raining. dr. strangelove, city of god, lots of things.

Television:

television? i don't even have a microwave...

Books:

here goes nothing and in no particular order (this is my myspace indulgence)... the corrections, the satanic verses and midnight's children, extremely fast and incredibly close, high fidelity, everything is illuminated, the fortress of solitude, lolita, americana, george orwell, cheese monkeys, fight club, milan kundera, italo calvino, particularly if on a winter's night a traveller, hermann hesse, particularly damian, aldus huxley, the god of small things, anything written by david sedaris, blankets by craig thompson, maus, the rider by tim krabbe (for all you cyclists out there), t.s. elliot, luis borges, richard brautigan, rod mckuen, plays by luis valdez, most things relating to latin american culture and history, chinese politics and economics, fear and loathing in las vegas, raise high the roofbeam carpenter, shosha and that by isaac bashevis singer and, one of my favorites, a confederacy of dunces. oh, and strangely like war, by derrick jensen. the list could go on, be fairly warned.
