Durham Folk

Up to now I was an amateur at heart.

About Me

After close to a decade of woodshedding, the self-imposed recluse and multi-aliased musician presently going by D. Folk has begun to record and distribute some of his songs. It's all down-hill from here...

Band Members: Durham Folk is James Cavano
Influences: Get ready, this could take a while; the Beatles, Wilco, the Band, Bob Dylan, Mike Doughty, Eels, Neil Young, Iron & Wine, Stars, Fiona Apple, the Be Good Tanyas, Nirvana, the Shins, the Velvet Underground, Soul Coughing, Arcade Fire, Smashing Pumpkins, Suburban Sunrise, Motown circa 1959 - 1971, Steve Earle, NIN, Johnny Cash, Pearl Jam, Sarah Harmer, Weezer, Tom Waits, the Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel, Tool, Elliott Smith, Ryan Adams, Blur, the Clash, Paul Westerberg, Fleetwood Mac, Elvis Presley, Modest Mouse, Spoon, Bright Eyes, TV on the Radio, Dave Matthews Band, A Tribe Called Quest, Prince, Feist, Sublime, Pink Floyd, and lastly; the all-encompassing ambient noise of the universe.
Sounds Like: Basically, anything I hear and can find a way to incorporate into the sound, I will. At any point it could veer into any of the above influences, I like to think of it as "Space Folk", or "Baroque Pop" with strong traditional acoustic leanings. Usually though, I just tell people it sounds like music. Which is mostly true, most of the time.
Type of Label: None
