About Me

Update time! I think I'll try and make this one a bit more brief. I am Neeso - real name's Sam, call me that if you must, but don't blame me if it takes me a while to respond because it just ain't a name I get too often. I'm 20, live in Melbourne, go to uni, and in my spare time I am one of the laziest, laid-back, open-minded people you would meet. Love music, it is something of a religion to me. I especially enjoy heavy metal and anything else that pushes the boundaries of what you can do with musical instruments. I play guitar, I am not the best guitarist around but I really get a lot out of playing, some of my favourite guitarists include Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (The Mars Volta/solo), Josh Homme (especially his work in Kyuss), John Frusciante (solo stuff, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mars Volta), Joe Haley (Psycroptic), Tom Morello (RATM), Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree), John Petrucci (Dream Theater), Matt Pike (Sleep), but above all, the legend himself that is Chuck Schuldiner (Death, Control Denied - R.I.P.). I also play bass occasionally, favourite bassists include Steve DiGiorgio (Death and a shitload of others), Steve Harris (Maiden) and Brian Ritchie (Violent Femmes). Some people would say that I waste money on going to concerts, but really, for me it is one of the greatest things in this world to actually be there and watch your heroes deconstruct their music and play it live. Jeez, this one isn't shorter than the other one. But meh! I shall stop ranting now. If you must know more, you can always add me, or talk to me on MSN or some shit. Peace.

My Interests

Music (KEYWORD METAL), drinking and partying, comedy of all sorts, the National Hockey League (that's ice hockey), namely the Toronto Mapleleafs, snowboarding... that's about it!

I'd like to meet:

Zack De La Rocha, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk
Any of my favourite guitarists, it would be great to meet Chuck Schuldiner but well, I can't because he's dead which is a real shame. But there are quite a few good living guitarists that I wouldn't mind meeting, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez would be awesome. Any other musicians that I enjoy the work of. Basically just anyone that can sit down and talk about music for hours and hours, those are the kind of people I enjoy hanging around.
(I have actually met some decent people of the music variety. Mark Palfreyman, bassist/vocalist from Alarum was at the Deicide gig, so I couldn't resist going up and saying hi haha. And then Ralph Santolla was hanging around later on... THEN at Festival of the Dead in '07 I met Jason Mendonca, guitarist/vocalist frontman extraordinaire from Akercocke. YEAH. Funny story about getting my Dawn of Azazel CD when I saw them supporting Behehmoth in '07 as well... oh and HOW COULD WE FORGET forget Internal Augmentation and Mud Letter Pie! I've met them. They're pretty good and shit...)
And in conclusion, I want to meet YOU. If you're interesting. Don't be a stranger, hit that add button if you want.
Here's a bit of support for a good mate of mine

I know most people put a band per line, but if I did that, my page would be huuuuuge, so no!
*And by the way, the stars are bands I've thankfully had the chance to check out their awesome live shows. My god, they can play. Multiple stars means multiple times I've seen them. As you probably didn't bother noticing, the ever-amazing Josh Pyke holds the record with a whopping five shows - that's Falls 06-07, Hi Fi Bar 07, supporting JBT at Festival Hall 07, Pyramid Rock 07-08, and BDO 08. He does totally rule. And JBT and Wolfmother are runners-up with four times each. There are some bands on that list that aren't starred that should be. Satan, where are you when I need to sell my soul?

Movies:

I don't do a lot of movies, but when I do, I fucking enjoy them. Some people might say that I'm more interested in "weird" movies and yeah I guess they are a bit weird, but they're also great. My favourite movie ever is Pink Floyd - The Wall, followed closely by Donnie Darko... and then, umm... Sweeney Todd, School of Rock, The Simpsons Movie IS THE SHIT! The Virgin Suicides, The Illustrated Family Doctor, Sin City, He Died With a Felafel in His Hand (thanks Jacko), Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, Kenny (now that's a fucking cracker), Almost Famous, Garage Days, Friday series, Half Baked, The Naked Gun series, Star Wars, Minority Report I like a fair bit, Doom, The Sum of All Fears, The Hills Have Eyes, House of 1000 Corpses. That'll do for now... no wait, better round it off with Pirates of the Caribbean, that's a classic too. And Austin Powers... jeez I like more movies than I thought... oh, let's not forget BASEketball... that'll do!

Television:

I do like my TV, and this list proves it: Family Guy, American Dad, Skins, Good News Week (WELCOME BACK but R.I.P The Sideshow), Flight of the Conchords, Metalocalypse, The Glass House (RIP), Summer Heights High, We Can Be Heroes, Little Britain, That Mitchell and Webb Look, The Armstrong and Miller Show, Catherine Tate (yeah pretty much British sketch comedy rules!) Drawn Together, Beavis and Butthead, Stripperella, The Chaser's War On Everything/CNNNN/The Chaser Decides, The Osbournes, The IT Crowd, Sick Tricks, Prison Break, 24, Shameless, Daria, Thank God You're Here, Spicks and Specks, Wilfred, SOS, Arrested Development, RocKwiz, Black Books, Scrubs, Happy Tree Friends and Friends/SOS Animated, Harvey Birdman: Attorney-At-Law, Quads!, The Daily Show, bro'Town, The Mighty Boosh, (Old) Pizza, South Park, Chappelle's Show, Futurama, Rage, JTV - basically I usually dig comedy and music-oriented stuff, although I can be a sucker for those big-budget action shows as you might see, yes, Prison Break & 24 I'm addicted to!

Books:

Don't read as much as I used to, but I did enjoy Tom Clancy's stuff, Matthew Reilly, he's good... OH, Choosing Death: The Improbable History Of Death Metal and Grindcore! Easiest book to read ever, it's got everything I want to read about!

Heroes:

"Well they're real Dickens!" "You want what you cannot have... jealousy. You want what is not yours... JEALOUSY!" "Everyone is different. No two people are not on fire." "So as the Romans say, Veni, Vidi, Vol-au-vent, let's have a fuckin' par'-ay!" "Skwisgaar Skwigelf, taller than a tree..." "Look up to the moon, whistle up a tune..." "We will have a real cool time."BUT WHAT I REALLY NEED IS SOME KINDA MEGA PICTURE DOWN HERE OF ALL MY FRIENDS. ALL OF THEM. BECAUSE THEY HAVE MADE ME WHAT I AM TODAY, AND I COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT THEM.
