SO WHAT IS THE HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN?

We are the Orange County and Long Beach Chapter of HRC, the Human Rights Campaign. Founded in 1980 and with more than 700,000 members and supporters nationwide, HRC is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. HRC effectively lobbies Congress, provides campaign support to fair-minded candidates, and works to educate the public on a wide array of topics affecting GLBT Americans, including relationship recognition, workplace, family, and health issues. The HRC Foundation — an HRC-affiliated organization — engages in research and provides public education and programming.
There are a number of ways for you to get involved here locally, have fun and meet some great people! Whether you are straight, gay, bisexual or transgendered, we welcome anyone who wants to be part of HRC. We have various events throughout the year and different committees dedicated to various areas of HRC. Please contact us if you want to get involved or visit this site for event updates.
Please pass on the word!

TRUE COLORS CONCERT TOUR 2008:
Once again this summer, HRC has joined forces with Cyndi Lauper for the musical event of the year in support of GLBT equality. The second annual True Colors Tour, featuring Cyndi, The B-52s, Rosie O’Donnell, Carson Kressley, Tegan and Sara, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Joan Armatrading, Wanda Sykes, Regina Spektor, Indigo Girls, The Cliks, Deborah Cox, and many others, will visit more than 20 cities across the country, starting May 31 and ending July 5, with HRC receiving $1 from every ticket sold from the True Colors Fund. Go to www.truecolorstour.com to sign up for email blasts or to check back for more details. Proceeds went for gay rights in 2007 and was a great concert for those in attendance. Tell your friends!

"FOR THE BIBLE TELLS ME SO" (see clip above) is a powerful documentary examining the lives of five very conservative Christian families and their gay children. It has been finanically supported by members of the OC/LB Chapter of HRC and currently is on the short-list for an Oscar in the Best Documentary category this film is an industry first in terms of examining the Bible, the verses commonly used to discriminate against gays; the involvement by various religious groups in this film is incredible.
The DVD is now available for sale at www.forthebibletellsmeso.org
