"Our age is retrospective. It builds the sepulchres of the fathers. It writes biographies, histories, and criticism. The foregoing generations beheld God and nature face to face; we, through their eyes . Why should not we also enjoy an original relation to the universe? Why should not we have a poetry and philosophy of insight and not of tradition, and a religion by revelation to us, and not the history of theirs? Embosomed for a season in nature, whose floods of life stream around and through us, and invite us by the powers they supply, to action proportioned to nature, why should we grope among the dry bones of the past, or put the living generation into masquerade out of its faded wardrobe? The sun shines to-day also. There is more wool and flax in the fields. There are new lands, new men, new thoughts. Let us demand our own works and laws and worship.
Undoubtedly we have no questions to ask which are unanswerable . We must trust the perfection of the creation so far, as to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened in our minds, the order of things can satisfy. Every man's condition is a solution in hieroglyphic to those inquiries he would put. He acts it as life, before he apprehends it as truth. In like manner, nature is already, in its forms and tendencies, describing its own design. Let us interrogate the great apparition, that shines so peacefully around us. Let us inquire, to what end is nature?" -Ralph Waldo Emerson
The moon is out now. It has finally turned dark and the air is brisk. The wind blowing through the leaves as I make my way out to the car. Another night in the city. As much as I have been there, it still always inspires awe. Doesn't matter what part. It's beautiful in it's own chaotic way. The foundation undernearth still stands true today. How rare is that these days? We make our way towards the city skyline, always anticipating the night to come. It's hard to believe time has gone by the way that it has! Some things never change, but the rest changes fast let me tell you. Yet, I stay true. You have to do your part. Some part, in this world. It is what it is, and it is what you make of it. Sometimes you have to close your eyes in order to see. It's hard to take it all in at once, think of how everything spans out so far beyond you. How did I wake up to this dream? That said, I always did love a good mystery. But I digress, because we've finally reached our destiniation and already begin seeing familiar faces. That's what it's all about really, other than the music of course. Such a simple thing, and really it doesn't seem like much to ask out of this life of infinite possibilities. I feel lucky to be able to experience that undeniable sensation in the Nations capitol! Such an amazing thing when you really think about it. It's what makes me feel alive. My philosophies are simple. You can refer to a number of Beatles tunes if you want some idea. But it definitely involves dancing and having a good time as often as possible. Positive Vibrations. Good karma and all that jazz. You don't need any archaic books to be a follower and still spread a good message or be a good person. Might as well aim to see the best life has to offer before you die.
