s is a concept. Making live music, considering and incorporating as many aspects of the trade, once involved in performing live music. „Once“, meaning the time period from the turn of the century until somewhere around the end of the 80’s. The stress point is on preparing for live, intimate perfromance. Creating an atmosphere where everyone involved is in having fun. The Studebaker’s try to that, as well as keeping the creative channels open, allowing for short spurts and bursts of musical ideas to be incorporated between tunes as interludes .
Take care of it and it will take care of you.In a business where bands often meet once or twice in the practice room, leaving the rest of the communication to the exchange of notes or recorded repertoire, I had the desire to but together a good ole bar band, lending to the ceramony in it’s self. The ceramony involves being a band for the love of the music, but much more for the way in which one takes care of the music. I believe that is important to cultivate by meeting often and exchanging musical ideas. At the moment I (Shawn) am the dictator of The Studebakers band, but my goal is to envolve everyone in the band to come up with a collage of songs and sounds that keeps the ocean rumbling and swishing (I’m a dreamer as you can see). You are part of that ocean,
without an active audience the waters will become dormont. This is a beginning, and we will be rocking the boat trying to stir things up to get a reaction.
The Studebakers have found a home pretty much set in the 50’s. I guess thats why I have chosen such a beautiful car to symbolise this project. Having in mind the fifty’s production’s (Studebaker produced automobiles from 1897 – 1966). Studebaker’s kicked butt in the 50’s. -- ( so did many others, I know) If u don’t know them, go online and check them out.I’m writing this discription on the 24th of February 2007.
The band dates back to sometime in 2003. The original rhythm section where Steve-O- Rama and Mad-C. Steve-O-Rama and I had worked together in another band prior to the Studebakers, and where working on a blues rock project before Mad-C joined the band. With Mad-C came the inspiration to Rock ’N’ Roll.
An inspiration that grabbed me quite strongly, ran away with my imagination and catered to my sence of nastalgia.
The Debut was presented on the 01/10/05 with much success. These aren’t the best pictures in the world, but you get the idea of whats going on. We played in the Roadhaus, located in Schorndorf on the Rems river, which I must admit was(sadly this venue doesn’t exist any more) our own local bar with many friends showing up for the gig. But they stayed, and nobody was forced to. Lots of positive feedback.Since the debut, the group has reformed with Rüdi Kurz on Bass and Daniel Kartmann on Drums. The demo is in the works and we are planning a series of concerts in the spring of 2007.
