Okaru Lovelace was born in Japan. Since the age of 3 years old, music has taken a special place within Okaru’s heart. Okaru sang and composed songs constantly for family and friends. By the age of 4 years old she began classical piano lessons from the Yamaha Music School. At 9 years old, Okaru’s composition won honors at a Japanese Music Educators Contest.
Upon relocating to New York City, Okaru immersed herself in the city’s vibrant Jazz Scene. She has since become a respected fixture of the city’s jazz vocal tradition. Additionally, Okaru is a composer, lyricist, emcee, healer and the hostess of the Jazz Foundation of America’s Jam Session. Okaru has interest in performing more in the future for Children, Hospice Patients and World Peace related organizations globally.
