About Me

I am the Chief Instructor for Ancient Eagle Style of gendai ninjutsu in Elizabeth City, NC. I am currently offering lessons here in the Elizabeth City area. Call 252-339-6711 and leave a message if you're interested and would like to know more.
Ancient Eagle Style is a style of ninjutsu founded by Hanshi Phillip Corn. If you are interested in learning more about Ancient Eagle Style, or just have questions regarding ninjutsu or anything else, feel free to send me a message through here.
Ancient Eagle is not a fitness club, and if you take my class, it is not my goal to "whip you into shape". My style is a combat-oriented style that focuses on scientific and practical application. There isn't much room in our training sessions for showing off and displays of pride. We start slowly, and each student will progress at the speed they learn. You get out of this what you put in. Another thing worth mentioning is that many styles out there are biased towards a particular body type, whereas ninjutsu uses taisabaki and taijutsu, which allow it to become natural movement for virtually any body type.

A bit about me...
I started martial arts in 1993 training Jiujutsu under Sensei Tola Lewis. I was young, but developed a foundation for future learning. I began to take the studies more seriously around 1995 or so when I began studying Jeet Kune Do with Sensei Pete White. Sensei Pete is not specifically a Jeet Kune Do instructor, but helped guide my independent studies. This combination of training led to the development of shootfighting abilities, which combined my grappling and body manipulation techniques with precise strikes to vital targets. I joined the US Marine Corps infantry in 2000, and it was there I began to implement tactics and warfighting methodology along with my martial studies. I was already kind of an amateur ninjutsu practitioner when I met Hanshi Corn in 2005; I just lacked the formal discipline and specific technique. Once Hanshi opened my eyes to the Gogyo methods of combat, I was able to take my life's studies and apply them in a new way. The ninjutsu I teach is more than just fighting techniques or self defense methods. Along with these skills there is an abundance of teaching drawn from everything I have studied and found to be effective.

I do not make any claim whatsoever to teach traditional ninjutsu. I understand the claim of lineage made by Bujinkan, Genbukan, and Jinenkan. There are those that feel as though only the Bujinkan are priveleged to teach Ninjutsu. My sentiment is slightly different. Ninjutsu is a tool used to persevere. I will never argue another "style's" legitimacy, authenticity, etc. If any wish to dicuss the practical application of my technique, or even compare it to another style, I am all for it. It is how we learn. But I will not bicker over one being better than another.

I'd like to meet:

Mature individuals with a desire to learn combat effective martial arts.

Music:

I like alot of different music. I listen to everything from rap to rock to metal to classical to jazz. Music for me is atmosphere and mood.

Movies:

I don't watch alot of tv, but I love movies. I'm pretty much down for a movie whenever, wherever.

Books:

I read much more than I watch television. Mostly martial arts books (Secrets of the Samurai, Tao of Jeet Kune Do, and Zen Flesh Zen Bones are among my favorites). I like any good book, fiction or non.

Heroes:

Any person that realizes their potential and lives up to it.
