About Me

Short of defining myself, I will tell you what I have been up to lately. Maybe the definition will flow freely from the accumulative activities (if I ever write this adequately)...

I finished Ironman Arizona in April, which was a big goal for me. Now I don't ever have to exercise again. Haha.

In June I quit my job of 3 years and sold my house. I am embarking on some world travel - WT. I am off to Latin America, the South Pacific, Oz and NZ. I will be back in the states in December. I will post a blog link soon.

My Interests

nutrition, cultural festivals, bluegrass, dorking, nighttime, dark moods, dancing, running, swimming, being right, winning, being healthy, growing trees, grocery shopping, triathlons, oceans, life sciences, diversity, intimacy, travel. philosophies, religions, personality types, definitions, emotional systems, home & self-improvement, africa, web 2.0., scuba diving, chinese history, stained glass window making, landscaping.

I'd like to meet:

Half the goal of traveling is to meet a wide variety of people and learn about them. Maybe my motive is selfish, to try to find who i am in relation to these people. Nevertheless, I would like a wide survey of personalities... But I doubt I'll be meeting these people through myspace....

Check out my flickr photo sets .

Music:

I listen to a whole range of music, and the list is ever changing/evolving. Recently have been listening to: Sufjan Stevens, The Boswell Sisters, Hot Chip, Yo La Tengo, TV on the Radio, Lucinda Williams, Low, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Skopic, Electric Six, Alison Krauss, Unicorn, Outkast, M. Ward, The Shins, The Notwist, Mogwai, Four Tet, Chris Thile, The Knife, Bonobo. If you have something good to recommend, let me know.

I turn on my TV about 1 time every 2 months.

prison break

To be trapped by your context seems like an artifact of childhood, when the parents struck fear in the children, forcing them to "beee-have". Perhaps this only happens in the cases where the parents *...

skydive

Here is the skydive video from a couple weeks ago.... It's mostly Bryan, since I got this as a gift for him -- it was his first jump and my third--- but there's a glimpse of me in there too.  I j...

waste

Go to the grocery store, and what do you see? Packaging! Lots and lots of plastic encompassing mass-processed chunks of dehydrated, condensed, and preserved foods. What is this crap we're eating? ...

new adventures with oats

Convinced that cereal costs too much, I've moved on to oats.  At first the change was acceptable simply because I was starting a new breakfast routine, but quickly my oats became consistently bla...

The Amarillo fuddy duddies and a nice long trip

I drove to Amarillo for Thanksgiving. Through familiar territory up I-17, and then across Arizona and New Mexico to Texas, on I-40. I made the trip alone and found it quite enjoyable! A book on tap...
