I am here for Friends

About Me

Last Update 5/1/2007Life is....well, its a lot of things, but I want to take advantage of my time on earth as much as possible, and that has become a large factor in how I live my life. Since the summer of 2005 I've been working for American Safari Cruises as an on-board Engineer and 1st Mate, and it is an incredible job. I work the most well rounded, happy, and uplifting people (friends) I've ever met, I travel a lot, I learned a lot, and I get paid pretty darn good, considering my age. But like anything, it cannot satisfy me forever. Time away from friends and family alike has impacted me, and now I've reached my tipping point and am moving in a new direction. Fresh out of high school I had no definite course or direction, but now with a couple years and a few thousand nautical miles under my belt, I'm ready to take a firm step in a direction of my choosing. So the rough plan is to attend community college until I complete my Associate of Science degree, then immediately transfer to a University for an additional two years to study mechanical engineering and design. During that period of schooling, I'll be finishing up the ol' 4Runner project (it is, in it self, an entity or physical being at this point), then hopefully purchasing a sailboat (1960's Islander 32, Rawson 30, or Alberg design sloop) and living aboard while going to university and prepping the boat for blue water cruising upon completion of schooling. I don't plan on working while going to school, as between working the Summers in Alaska and student loans, I should be able to manage financially. This is imperative, I believe, to really absorbing the education I am seeking, and also conducive to having the flourishing personal and social life I've been lacking the last few years. So those are my plans, for now.About me: I like walks on the beach, puppies, and hugs. No, really...about me: I like simplicity, I admire humility, and I love adventure. In regards to that last one, adventure, I must define it as I regard it... Adventure to me is challenge. When something looks unclimbable, too uncontrollable, or out-of-the-question, I like to take them on, whether physically, mentally, or both. Adventure can be found anywhere. It is simply the word used to describe that feeling of exciting uncertainty that precedes an action or series of actions to be taken. Asking that one girl out, shooting at the neighbors cat, or making that heavy decision - they all can be adventures, if you have the right mindset. Speaking of mindset, I'd say that on average I am opportunistic, I invite new ideas and challenges rather freely (unless it involves something I really despise), and I have a calm demeanor. Now here is the fun part - enter lack of food, lack of sleep, excess of alcohol (a rarity for me, actually), work related stress, mean people, lack of sun, and/or female issues. As with anyone, these things change me. Right now, the potential number one killer of my fun demeanor is lack of sleep, as I often find pacing myself difficult, and overwork myself. But with age I'm learning more about myself, and these adverse effects of life have less and less of an impact on my happiness and attitude. Ok, moving on. I try to eat organic stuff - not because I'm some hippie, but because I figure for a few cents more, I might just live a bit longer, and that's totally worth it! I like cooking (because I like to eat), but frankly, it comes second to speed and availability. Ramen is always in my cupboard, and it's only 2 minutes away... :) I like movies, and I often reference them in conversation, as they are a popular medium that most people know. I enjoy pho for breakfast, and I like chocolate milk, heavy on the chocolate. Bright blue, followed by hot pink, are probably my favorite colors. Gray/silver/cobalt is my favorite shade. I'm starting to notice the color of girls' eyes when I meet them - this has not always been the case. I'm a bit of a sports nut, and I really want to get out more with friends, as opposed to doing activities like biking and sailing by myself. I don't drink coffee, and I don't eat fast food (coffee since fall '05, fast food since spring '05), but I do eat corn dogs and drink tea (but only with honey as sweetener). Ah, I enjoy capturing reflected light, then retransmitting it onto paper and placing it around my room. Ali G is a pimp, respek. Ok, this is all for now, perhaps I'll write more at a later time? Perhaps? Maybe? Maybe not! I can't tell the future, but I can tell time! So I'll leave you with this question - are you challenged?Seize the day yo,Danny

My Interests

I've always been into tearing stuff apart (cars, radios, basically anything), but subsequently putting less things back together...hence my now 1+ year 4Runner project. Whitewater kayaking rocks! I'm looking for a good deal on another boat, so I can take ya'll out in 'em! I also appreciate a nice gun or two, and getting out to shoot them every once and awhile. As pollitically incorrect as it is, I must say that I enjoy the occasional squirrel hunt with small caliber rifles (or a shotgun if I just can't seem to hit the bugger). I often crave an iced lemonade from Six Flags, but end up sipping on whatever coke product happens to be lying around. I like free things, they cost less. I am not interested in any sort of serious relationship, and I think anyone my age who wants that is insane.

I'd like to meet:

My future wife, Jonny Mosley, Glen Plake, Sara Burke, Osoma Bin Laden (for a good ass-woopin'), and every one of the Tellitubbies, oh, and the guy who dropped the atom bomb on either Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

Music:

Hippity-hop, Rockity-rock, and punkity-punk are the vibes I get my groove on with, but classical jazzy-jazz and vocals have their place in my collection too...

Movies:

Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Love Actually, Bravehart, Bad Boys I & II, Cinderella Man, Notting Hill, When Harry Met Sally, Hitch, Harold and Kumar Go to Whitecastle....heck, there are so many movies out there...i can't even remember the ones i like!

Television:

The Sopranos; and I love the quote "You gonna draw them pistols, or whistle Dixie?" By a Mr. Josey Wales. Good movie, you should all watch it.

Books:

Clancy novels, Truck and car magazines, instructional manuals, textbooks, etc

Heroes:

-People who can loose weight by working it off, and my DAD - the pimp of all pimps
