Coast Starlight

Life is so sweet in the hog head's seat

About Me

Allrighty here is the info about yours truly. I was born in a small town in northwest Indiana and moved to a town on the central Coast of California called Aptos when I was 2 in the year 1985 (near Santa Cruz, California). During that time frame I met lots of people went to many schools such as Aptos Junior High (fall of 1997 through spring of 1998) & Aptos High School (Fall of 1998 through June of 2002) and other grade schools. After graduating from high school in the year 2002 I attended Cabrillo college for a short period of time. Then my parents decided that it was time to move out of state. In June of the year 2004 I ended up in a small town just south of Carson City, Nevada. I then attended and became a graduate of Western Nevada Community College in the spring of 2006. I moved temporarily to Sacramento, California in the fall of 2006 to receive a full degree in Rail Road Operations from Sacramento City College. I received solid A's and a 4.0 GPA in an intense 18 unit one semester railroad operations program. As you can see in my pics the one true enjoyment in my life is railroad photography. Each and every pic was taken by me over the time frame of many years. I do a lot of RR photo shoots across northern Nevada, Donner Pass, and Union Pacific's Coast Line on the west coast of California on my free time when I do have free time off of work. I enjoy both video and digital photography. My life long goal is to eventually become a certified rail road engineer particularly with Amtrak on routs such as the Coast Starlight, South West Chief, California Zephyr, Empire Builder, or where ever the opportunity may become available. I can not think of much else to say here so if you want to know more just send an E-mail or friend request. I will continuously make updates to my profile when I have free time between work. The background picture on this page was taken by me in Glenshire, California on Easter Sunday, 2007.You can check out and view my vast collection of videos of trains that I have taken every where between southern Michigan and the California Pacific Coast at the following link on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=CoastStarlight11& amp;p=r... My Interests

Rail road photography. Some Family History. My great great grandfather started the Davey Tree company. Davey Tree was started in the year 1880:

I'd like to meet:

New People. That one special ladie out there somewhere.

You're the California Zephyr!
More reliant on teamwork and cooperation than your peers, you've proven that competition doesn't always lead to the best outcome. By creating something greater than the sum of its parts, you have shown the value of putting aside differences in favor of unity. At the same time, longevity does not appear to be your strong suit. Though you are always associated with silver, your final destination is the Golden Gate.

You're the Coast Starlight!
A lover of the Pacific Ocean, you could even be called a pacifist. You enjoy whale watching, surfing, long walks on the beach, and probably even tree-hugging. With all of this environmental focus, you remind people that you're just trying to keep the rest of the world as beautiful as you are. While you say that you expend a lot of energy, many have accused you of just coasting.

Enjoy Get Your Own! | View SlideshowMap of all the places I have visited over the years. The states and countries that are in green are places that I have visited/been to over the years:I did a photo shoot series in Lovelock Nevada and submitted one of the pictures to the news paper. The picture was published Janurary 28, 2007. Here is the article: & here is the orrigional picture I took:Yet another published pic of mine. This is the sun setting over a northbound Union Pacific auto train in July of 2003. This is the news paper article published on Janurary 20, 2006:& This is the orrigional pic I took in Salinas, CaliforniaNews Paper Pic: We have the sun setting over the Black Mesa & Lake Powl Electric rail line near the town of Kayenta, Arizona during a long Thanksgiving road trip I took to visit with relatives. So here are the news paper pics from the Nevada Appeal News Paper. This was published on Janurary 10, 2007:Pic 1: This is my pic on the front page.Pic 2: Here is the pic and article I wrote up that was on the inside of the front section of the news paper.Pic 3: Finally here is the orriginal pic I took and submitted to the paper of the sun setting over the Black Mesa & Lake Powl electric lines. Unfortunatlly you can see the news paper cropped the pic down to fit in the section. On December 2, 2006 the Nevada Appeal Newspaper printed one of my pics yet again. 4th time and counting. Newspaper screwed up on the date. I shot the pic on the 12th not the 13th of August of this year. This was taken during a 3 day weekend photo shoot series over Donner Pass. Brand spanken new Union Pacific SD70ACE's numbers 8498 & 8499 still in numerical order on one of their first revenue runs leading a westbound UP manifest train over Donner Pass. The SD70ACE's lead the train up untill Sparks Nevada. Then when the train got to sparks UP decided to slapp on two other engines on the front to help the train make it over donner to Roseville. I shot this at a newly discovered spot in eastern Truckee, California. Here is the newspaper article:& this is the orrigional pic I took. I am pretty gosh darn stoked over this =]. Only two things wrong are the date and the pic kind of looks a wee bit dark when printed in the paper. My other published pics were not nearly as dark. One of my railfanning pics from a photo shoot I did on Feburary 20, 2006 on Donner Pass in the winter was just published in the September 26, 2006 issue of the Nevada Appeal News Paper. Now here is the sweet thing and the difference from the last two that were published. My last two pics were printed in Black & White. This time the news paper decided to print my pic in color and not only that it was published on the front page of the paper as well as in the photo contist section. Here are the pics:This was taken from a photo shoot series I did on Donner Pass in the small town of Verdi, Nevada.First we have the pic that was put on the front page of the paper. I zoomed in on the pic. If I had zoomed out and taken a pic of the whole frot page the pic would not have been noticeable:Next here is the full picture article inside of the paper:Now unfortunatlly the news paper cropped my pic down and they took away from the back round secenery such as the bridge and snowy river bank. So this is the orriginal uncropped pic that I took. You can kind of get an idea how much they cropped the pic:Below is yet another picture of mine I submitted to the local news paper and was published. Got to love that California Zephyr. & This is the orrigional Picture that I took:I submitted one of my railfanning photo shoot pictures to a local Nevada news paper. The paper accepted the pic and printed it. This is a picture I took of my news paper article. & This is the orrigional digital picture that I took:I have done a lot of railfanning over the years.
