Nevaya is a five piece metalcore group formed from guys from a couple different towns. Their sound ranges from breakdowns, to speed metal verses, to catchy melodic riffs; With vocals that are inspired by the likes of: At the Gates, Underoath, Every Time I Die, and other hardcore/metal influences.
This band has been blossuming since the mid-summer of 2003.They Have been through different name changes, first know as The Forever Forgotten. Then they made their way to Collided I Collapsed, and then Drown My Soul. With each new name came a new genre to their style... with each passing year we have gone through different line-ups. Originally Nevaya started out as three young bros doing some Ramones covers at your local talent shows. It was after that when they teamed up with guitar player/frontman Derek Hageness. From then on the core four were inseperable, writing their own music in Hageness's barn and making hanus movies at night. Within the next summer of 2004 search for a singer was in order because Derek wanted to focus mainly on his guitar playing, for awhile they tried the whole girl singer thing with Ashleigh Harper, didn't work out. Later on Brandon Vold stepped into the picture and than out. Wanting to return to a five peice group, Guitarist Steve Sauers stepped into the picture and also a new front man, Luke Benson . So if nevaya is in an area near you check em out.
Having derived their inspirations from various hardcore and metal influences,not to mention clean and melodic passages,Nevaya seems to have established a sound all their own; not formerly heard in local music.With this being one of their attributes, one simply cant do them justice by labelling them as just "hardcore," or "metal." Nevaya is a group of young guys making a large statement.You wouldnt expect to hear a sound like Nevaya come from a small town like Strum,WI. .Because mostly you just catch the sounds of old eighties cover bands around the area which is tight as hell because without the those bands around some of us may have not gotten caught under the influence of creating ear punishing music.
