As a youth, music was always a part of Eric's life. Both of his parents were avid music lovers, as displayed by their urging of their children to play music early. In elementary school, Eric first picked up the clarinet, eventually moving towards the drums in high school, playing snare, quads, and xylophone in the marching band.
A native of Los Angeles, CA, Eric ventured to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College. His first "official" delve into the music industry came as a legal assistant at a music management company, creating contract templates and proofreading artist riders, as well as coordinating artist itineraries. This job led him to focus his legal aspirations in the entertainment field, in particular music. After college graduation, he went on to work as a case clerk at the prestigious law firm of Kilpatrick Stockton LLP, whose clients include artists such as hip hop supergroup Outkast and the Tupac Amaru Shakur family estate.
His work at the firm enlightened him to the inequity of business acumen in the music industry. Many artists, even platinum-selling artists, can find themselves in legal disputes that could have been avoided by the simplest of documentation. Preempting this issue, as well as others like it, prompted Eric's decision to bring his legal expertise over to Taylord Entertainment.
While at Taylord Entertainment, Eric had the opportunity to work hand in hand with upcoming artists and producers, gaining considerable knowledge about the creative process, as well as improving his legal expertise through more direct application. His hard work and perseverance while at Taylord Entertainment placed him in the position to work with renowned industry vet/manager Ron "Tricky" Montgomery, whose company Tricky Bizness is a haven for talented writers, producers, and artists.
