Transplants to Austin via the icy tundra of the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan, squint has always been a band focused on gathering
experiences to write about. Their incessant touring has consistently interfered
with love and helped the band become deadly-accurate portrait artists of broken
relationships. Strong as their passion for writing music may be, they are a band
ultimately devoted to the live performance.
squint’s latest record, was produced by Ed Stasium in Los
Angeles. Ed is a legend; the man responsible for recording The Ramones,
Soul Asylum, Rev. Horton Heat, this list goes on and on. This album earned them a nomination for an American Music Award even before it was released.
At college radio, it was the 12 most added record according to CMJ’s Top 20
Adds and made the CMJ Top 200. At commercial radio, Tinsel Life
immediately charted on the Top 20 Specialty Radio charts. squint is also
featured on Touchtunes Jukeboxes, DMX Radio, and XM Satellite Radio.
squint is sponsored by Jagermeister, and are featured on
the 2006 Jager Music Compilation CD and are performing dates on the 2007 Jager Music Tour with Stone Sour, Shadow’s Fall and Lacuna Coil. Songs off
squint’s new record have been featured on MTV, VH1, The Travel Channel, A&E,
Oxygen, TLC and The Discovery Channel, and squint’s live show has generated so much buzz that it will has been featured on the national television program True Music, which will be released as a DVD featuring Tantric, squint and Matchbox 20. squint’s unique live show also attracted the attention of microphone stand manufacture, Atlas. Atlas joined forces with squint in 2004 – making squint the first artist in history to have a microphone stand endorsement. squint is also proudly sponsored by AKG Microphones.
The last four years have put squint performing almost 150 shows a year; gracing the stage with bands like Staind, Fall Out Boy, The Goo Goo Dolls, Alter Bridge, The Toadies and more. squint has also donated over 32 thousand dollars to Parkinson disease research through their annual charity festival, Squintfest ( www.squintfest.com ). These accomplishments, and their hard work and solid song writing, earned squint the ASCAP Plus Award in 2003 thru 2007.
With a new live record released in March of 2007 and plans to record a new
studio album almost in place for 2008; this year looks to be another great year
for squint.
