I guess it's gonna have to hurt, I guess I'm gonna have to cry and let go of some things I've loved

About Me

"Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
I'm going to do something BIG - change the world, or at least make a huge impact on it! Just have to figure out how...
I thought I had it all figured out at one point, but even I am really in the process of learning all there is to know "about me"...I know that I'm a different, better person every day and that I learn a lot every moment I live. I get a big part of who I am from the people I know and the people I meet on a daily basis. People who have had a huge influence on who I am today are: my mommie, my sister and brothers, Faye, Aunt Edith, Aimee Stern, Edgar Rothschild, the Clinique girls, Kaye Bass, Jessica and her family, Lou, Aunt Mary Margaret and Uncle Bobby, Aunt Darlene, Jeff, Todd, and Jerry, and all my girls: Robbie, Karla, Ann, Judy, Erin, Melissa, Holly Carter and last, but certainly not least - my beautiful neices: Mary, Mandy, Kayla, Ava, and my nephew, Caedan.
By the way, Flickerstick is the best band, ever!!
Some of my favorite quotes:
"Absence diminishes mediocre passions and increases great ones, as the wind extinguishes candles and fans fires."
~Francois de La Rochefoucauld
-- contributed by my Chicago girl, Casy
"In the long run, men hit only what they aim at. Therefore, they had better aim at something high."
~Henry David Thoreau
"To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing."
~Elbert Hubbard
"I have dreamed in my life dreams that have stayed with me ever after, and changed my ideas; they have gone through and through me, like wine through water, and altered the color of my mind."
~Emily Bronte

My Interests

Music, travel, philosophy, and anything that makes me think!!!

I'd like to meet:

People who are passionate and who have the balls to stand up for themselves and their beliefs, no matter how trivial they may seem to others. Also, confident people - people who walk around all dejected annoy me. Another thing I can't stand is people who lie and/or don't follow through, so no flakes...

Music:

Flickerstick, Natalie Grant, Marc Broussard, Plumb, Damien Rice, Butch Walker (or anything he touches), Tonic, Julie Roberts (on record, not live), old school Judds, Wynonna, Aretha Franklin, James Morrison, Toby Lightman, Paolo Nutini, Jeff Buckley, Rubyhorse, Mitch Allan, Augustana, Pat Green, Wes McDonough, Joss Stone, Stevie Wonder, all blues, jazz, soul, most country, some rock and just generally anything I feel.

Movies:

I don't watch a lot of movies, but some that I've seen that I've watched more than once are: Dirty Dancing ("no one puts Baby in the corner..."), Billy Madison ("shampoo is better, I go on first and CLEAN the hair..."), Steel Magnolias, Blow, Scarface, The Shawshank Redemption, A Walk To Remember, Seredipity, The Notebook, Where The Heart Is, and Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. Mostly sappy chick flicks, but what do you expect?!

Television:

I think I'm finally over the Anderson Cooper crush, now I watch Glenn Beck...then, I like Gray's Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventures of Old Christine, any Law and Order (especially CI)- and that's when I get a chance to even watch anything, which is rare

Books:

Waiting on Joel Osteen's "Become A Better You", but I'm currently studying for the LSAT AND trying to finish Barack's "Dreams From My Father". I love the whole "Your Best Life Now" series by Joel Osteen - book, journal, devotional; "Jesus on Leadership", anything by Dave Ramsey or Donald Trump (for ideas); "How to Be Like Women of Influence" - includes stories on Anne Frank, Sandra Day O'Connor, and Oprah (Nashville, represent); and just generally anything that inspires me or helps me grow.

Heroes:

The fighters in this world!! And anyone who's ever followed their dreams - as well as the people who've given theirs up for other people (I love my mommie)...
