supergrip began in a small new england town in the early spring of 2002. at that time i was playing with some great friends in a band called mariner and having a great time. although i was content living in that sleepy town, my mind was consumed daily with thoughts of someone and someplace far away. to keep myself occupied and somewhat sane, i took to recording in my apartment late at night when i found myself most vulnerable to the distance between me and the place i longed to be. supergrip is an odd amalgam of live instruments and sampled percussion, as well as the sounds that comprised my environment at the time. i spent many hours on the computer experimenting with different sounds; sometimes recording 3 guitar tracks and several vocal tracks. i think the end result is a strong representation of the place i was in during those long months in new england.
