About Me

I'm just a guy with a guitar. I write and sing about stuff I've seen, experienced or that makes me tick. A lot of my work has taken me into some interesting places and allowed be to meet some wonderful people. My faith is my companion, as such I find myself singing about this too. I've heard it said that God gives people songs and, if true, when I think on mine can see why he'd want to get rid of them. Make your own mind up.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Rich Blake-Lobb: Guitar and Vocals
Influences: The smell when the sun comes out after a short summer shower. The taste of freshly brewed coffee. The ocean, mountains, rivers, trees and all kinds of natural gorgeousness. My mums cooking. Friends. Love. Pain. Sorrow. Films. Books. Strolls through the city streets. I'm mostly influenced by what's going on around me. The places, the people, the smells, the beauty, the horror, the hypocrisy. Musically I have an eclectic taste including the harmonious Lady Smith Black Mambazo, the chilled acoustic surf sounds of Jack Johnson, the melodous Kate Rusby, the haunting Tracy Chapman, folk singer Seth Lakeman, early Counting Crows, gospel, country, bluegrass, cajun and punk. Artists like U2, REM, Coldplay, Eric Clapton, James Taylor have to be mentioned along with anything my dad played when I was growing up or my brother introduced me to more recently. But its Martyn Joseph that sings the songs I wish I'd written.
Sounds Like: A guy playing the guitar and singing a few songs.
Type of Label: None
