The Karmacanix

Vancity Ska/Reggae/Hip Hop

About Me

The Karmacanix are a nine piece ensemble of intense hard hitting ska, funk, reggae, hip hop, latin and punk influences. With Tynan Rampling (Guitar) bringing you the solid up beats associated with ska music and Sean Bales (Bass Guitar) grooving on the 6 string bass there is only one more to add to the combination of a solid rythem section. That is none other than corey pollak (Drums) bringing with him a unified tempo to set the pace to the killer sound associated with the Karmacanix. Together these 3 bring a vibe that could only be complimented by a 4 piece horn section which includes Adam Greenholtz on Trumpet, Haig Morrison on the Bariton Sax and Dr. Tre kick'n it on the Trombone. Top that off with Sarah C-S on lead vocals and trumpet and the phat rap stylings of the Dr. to make a perfect topping for the solid base lead by the other members to create the ulitmate sound. With two demo releases in their discography and a new 8 track ep the Karmacanix have 4 years of history in the making. Many battles have been won between other bands and many members have come and gone adding a unique flavour of influence to the sound. All members come from different backgrounds including classically trained violinists to college grads to self taught motivated musicians. The Karmacanix bring a performance with them that has created a reputation of being described as nothing short of a Gong fest from start to finish. From the minute they start to the moment they leave the stage they have the crowd off their feet and shaking to the beat. Sweat drips from the ceiling, bottles break on the floor and if you ain't keepin track chances are the Karmacanix own the score. But a bio can only do so much. You are going to have to see this spectacle for yourself sometime.
