WHAT GOES AROUND...
Shy-Anne Social Club (Gulfport, MS) was started w-a-y back in the 70's...Mike & Judy Longo, Randy Steele, and Charlie Williams deemed it necessary to establish a gathering place for friends to enjoy live music.Robin Chambless was a highschooler w-a-y back in the 70's and would "sneak" into Shy-Anne to catch the latest and greatest in music. Robin LIVED at Shy-Anne, soaking up the sounds of national bands such as Three Dog Night, Mother's Finest, etc. She was also upfront and center for regional bands such as THE COLD, THE ST. LOUIS SHIEKS, EYES, etc.By the time Chambless was 21-years-old, she was clean and sober. The owners of Shy-Anne quickly realized this young lady was just taking up space...paying no cover charge and not buying drinks...what good is she? PUT THIS GIRL TO WORK!So, a career in music was born! Robin worked her way up through the ranks to manager. Here, she learned the art of talent buying, promotion, management, event production/management, etc.The genealogy of Chambless' career is very incestuous...dem branches run all over the place! From her days at Shy-Anne, she befriended many musicians/production peeps from the New Orleans area, so her move from Gulfport, MS to New Orleans was easy and natural. After college and the closing of Shy-Anne Social Club, Robin went to work with Ed White at White Oak Productions, booking bands and producing special events. After White Oak, Robin spent 8 years at Propaganda Group/Express Productions, working in sales and special event production.Laid off after Katrina, Robin Chambless decided to start her own company. BUT, what to name it? Well, Shy-Anne kept poppin' up. The building was gone, thanks to dat big-ass wave. Many of the people she knew because of Shy-Anne have passed away...too many to name. Many have moved away. On a brighter side, she still works with many of those she met at Shy-Anne.Shy-Anne Social Club Productions is an homage to the music, the people, the good times, the bad times, the lessons learned, the lessons not learned.Shy-Anne is an homage to those of us who work in this business because it IS WHO WE BE!Shy-Anne is an homage to the Nestor brothers (those still living & those who have passed, RIP Michael & Gilbert). Shy-Anne is an homage to the friendships Robin has with amazing musicians like Johnny Hozey, John Thomas Griffith, Michael Barras. Shy-Anne is an homage to Michael Hapes, yet another dear friend/audio engineer who has passed. Shy-Anne is an homage to those friends/audio engineers still breathing...Eli "Baboon" O'Neil (Little Richard) & Jerry "Point5" Manuel (Dr. John)...who still make me laugh while we're working our asses off! Shy-Anne is an homage to music of the past (the Sheiks, Change to Eden). Shy-Anne is an homage to lifelong friends who are always there for each other, no matter what...you know who you are. Shy-Anne is an homage to Charlie Williams (R.I.P., boss)...one of the craziest, wackiest dudes I have ever met...but, he had a vision...he gave us Shy-Anne. Shy-Anne is an homage to Mike & Judy Longo for believing in this chick and taking me under their wings. Shy-Anne is an homage to Peggy Underwood Chambless, the most amazing woman on this planet...she has always supported her little baby on every journey Robin has taken.Shy-Anne Social Club Productions is about preserving the music we have heard before and promote the music yet to flow through our brains.Dat said...GET OFF YOUR ASSES & DANCE!!Here it is...comin' back 'round...treat others the way you would like to be treated..Enjoy what the Good Lord gave ya!loveyameanit
