I am here for Friends

About Me

I've been told that I work in an ivory tower, but it looks like bricks and mortar to me.

I'd like to meet:

Osceola, David Wojnarowitz, Yoshimi P-We, Herman Melville, Chuck D, Abbie Hoffman, Haruki Murakami, Allen Ginsberg, Yoko Ono, Samuel Beckett, Douglas Adams, Margaret Kilgallen, Jacques Derrida, Kevin Shields, Brian Wilson, Ornette Coleman, Maureen Tucker, William S. Burroughs, Andy Warhol, Jo Jackson, Frank Norris, Magritte, Saul Alinsky, Kim Gordon, Marcel Duchamp, Michel Foucault, Stan Brakhage, Richard D. James, Thomas Campbell, Lee Scratch Perry, Alan Watts, Thurston Moore. You know, we could all get together for some bocce or something.

Music:

really poppy music or really droney/artsy/noisy music that you might not recognize as music at five paces. RIYL: Caribou, JOMF, Espers, Boredoms, Super Furry Animals, OOIOO, Pharaoh Overlord, Herbie Hancock, the Byrds, Tony Conrad, Flying Canyon, Faust, Seefeel, Jackie Mittoo, Public Enemy, Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine, Grandaddy, Flaming Lips, AFX, Sonic Youth, Broadcast, Tommy Guerrero, Six Organs of Admittance, Roots Manuva, Boards of Canada, the Rentals, Lightning Bolt, Howlin' Rain, Q and not U, Sun Ra, Autechre, Erik Satie, Os Mutantes, Comets on Fire, Nation of Ulysses.

Movies:

slacker comedies or pretentious arthouse/foreign films. and, whenever possible, combinations of the two, like bill and ted's bogus journey! i'm also prone to repeatedly watching the big lebowski, perfumed nightmare (if only i could find a copy!), sprout, head (the monkees movie, quit yr prurience!), koyaanisqatsi, the maltese falcon, the royal tenenbaums, so i married an axe murderer, stranger than fiction....
