About Me

You have been marked on my profile map!
I grew up in a smaller, uneventful town in Western MD where one of the favored forms of entertainment was hearing/reading/gossiping about the fuzz stalking and busting kids for enjoying themselves one of few ways we knew how without leaving town: partying. I did way more than my fair share, ended up dating one of their prime targets along the way, & found myself in trouble with the law right alongside him. The best piece of advice I can offer to anyone after going through what I did: don't take any sort of rap for your man/chick, & for God's sake, do NOT aid and abet them if they're in that deep! If they really love you, they won't want you to get involved in anything of the sort. Chances are they're most likely not worth it anyway & you'll only end up needlessly suffering in the end... A few years, many hardships (I lost a dear, dear friend along the way...), & a broken but mended heart later, I've made some huge changes in my life that I'm very satisfied with & proud of. After answering to the law, deciding to leave the hard stuff alone, distancing myself from the bad boy, & spending some time getting reacquainted with quote unquote normal life, I met a truly incredible guy who has given me a renewed faith in the fact that life can be just as much if not more fun without all that non-sensical crap I put myself right in the middle of. The only catch was that he lived 1500 miles away in Colorado! After what ended up being a monthlong Spring Break trip here last year (lasted 3 weeks longer than it was originally supposed to), I decided to come back permanently, & have been here since June of 05. I'm back in college (finally a Senior!), have a great workstudy job, & have begun a new chapter in my life. I'm happier and more content than I've been in over 6 years. I miss my family and friends dearly, especially since during my partying phase I was physically around but mentally somewhere else... but this is where I was meant to be. I believe, by some blessed coincidence, several very special people were already here to help me with my transition. Heather, Sam, Andrew, Miles, Margaret... we've had some great times already & I look forward to plenty more... mad love to you all! Which brings me to what kind of person I am... describing oneself can be difficult for some, so this is what Heather says about me: that I'm one of the most positive people, even when times are tough, that she knows, & a chatterbox, one of my Anthro professors last fall nicknamed me "the always smiling Amber (insert last name here)," & a lady I work with calls me "peachy," so we'll go with those. I love reconnecting with old friends (helps with being so far from (my original) home), so if I look familiar, please message me &/or send a friend request... because I'd like to hear from you :) A Survey For Those 21 and Up.

Heroes:

First and foremost, my parents. They're amazing. I don't know how they did it; they both had a tough job keeping things going for us and both managed beautifully. I rarely remember going without, and there were times I should have, but they were too good to me and tried to spoil me and my sibs anyway. They never, in all that I put them through, abandoned or forgot me, and took better care of me than I felt I deserved. Without them, I would have never gotten through those times in one piece. I'm a lucky girl. All of my friends and even acquaintances who have or are overcoming addiction. It's one hard f*cking road to travel down and not many make it to the end, and even when we do, we can be pretty banged up and broken. Mad props to you strong, determined, relentless mofos.Self-confident, self-reliant, outspoken women who don't take shit from anyone. I only wish I could learn to be a bitch when necessary; I'd wear that title loud and proud.People that create. Doesn't matter what: music, art, stories, ideas, meals, etc. It's a truly wonderful thing to be blessed with such talents. I think we too often take them for granted, i.e. I have an acoustic gittar here at my disposal and I rarely play it. Such a pity. Maybe I need to add one more thing to my list of new years resolutions. ..
