Vera Dias was born on 3 April 1986 in the city of Guimarães. At 12 years of age joined the Professional School of Artistic Vale do Ave - Artave, where she began her studies of bassoon with the teacher Jesus Coelho. Later studied with Professor Paulo Martins, who finished the course of wind instruments, and was awarded with the prize Dr. Manuela Carvalho for her performance throughout the course. At 18 years she was admitted to the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik - Karlsruhe, in the class of the bassoon professor Günter Pfitzenmaier. Completed in 2008 in the graduate School of Music in Lisbon, in the class of Professor Arlindo Santos. Attended courses on improving the bassoon with Pfitzenmaier Günter, Henning Trog and Paulo Martins, among others.Collaborated with the Orchestra of the Portuguese School of Music, the Orchestra Aproarte, the Chamber Orchestra of the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik - Karlsruhe, the Chamber Orchestra of Pforzheim and in the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, among others, under the direction maestros of Ernst Schelle, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, Lawrence Foster, Lutz Köhler, Michael Zilma, Michel Corboz, Paavo Jarvi, Peter Eötvös, Rudolf Barshai and Simone Young, among others, performing concerts throughout Europe and the East.In 2003 and 2004 was selected to join the Summer School of the Youth Orchestra of the European Union, and it only followed in 2004 as in 2003 declined the opportunity to compete for the 'Young Musicians Award "of the RDP, which was 1st Prize - Higher Education in the form of Bassoon. As a result of its performance in the contest, played solo with the Gulbenkian Orchestra. In 2004, 2nd Prize in the contest Landespolizei in Karlsruhe.It was awarded with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation from 2003 to 2006. Since September 2006, she's 1st bassoon assistant of the Gulbenkian Orchestra.
