About Me

I'm an artist, working both visually and with sound. Still, the main thing taking up all of my time is a labor of love I started in 1999...

Some Assembly Required concerns itself with exposing listeners to artists who use pieces of old recordings to make new recordings of their own creation. You can find out more about the show (including the BLOG , and PODCAST ) at: www.some-assembly-required.net

You can see some of my Theater Series hanging at Patrick's Cabaret in Minneapolis (3010 Minnehaha Ave. S.) and some of my Marquee Series at The Rogue Buddha Gallery (357 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis). Check out my artists page at mnartists.org for more info.

I also have some music videos online. Check out the video page at the Escape Mechanism website . Thanks to all the wonderful artists with whom I've collaborated.

My Interests

Film, Art, Music.

I'd like to meet:

Check out my movies and TV favorites. If you're an artist, or a writer, or a chef, or someone creative and you like to TRY to find time to enjoy stuff like that - when you can - then you might be someone I'd like to meet. Not that all I like to do is watch TV, by any stretch of the imagination, but I have to admit to being drawn to the idea lately. I'm currently spending ALL my free time on one project or another, and the idea of free time spent doing absolutely nothing seems very, very tantalizing. bizarre.

Music:

Producing a radio show devoted to tape cut-ups, turntablists and mashups has made me enjoy more "traditional" music in ways I never imagined! I love it all.

Movies:

Some Directors, off the top of my head: Michel Gondry, Jan Svankmajer, Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, Terry Gilliam...

Historically, my favorite films have been confused as to whether they are comedies or tragedies.

Television:

I'm a fan of the absurd in any genre - art, comedy, music...

I like documentaries on PBS, and netflix, and sophisticated/adult comedy (whatever it's being called at the moment), so it's either end of the spectrum there, I guess.

To state the painfully obvious, most television isn't worth the time it's taking me to type these comments.

Books:

I've been reading a lot lately, mostly memoirs.

Most recently, I'm very much enjoying "Schulz and Peanuts," a biography by David Michaelis.

Heroes:

Those who create and contribute positive messages in spite of an often overwhelming awareness of so much to be negative about...
