We are family

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
Here's a very potted history of our band.
We were born amongst a backdrop of Watfords faceless, satellite suburbia. You know the score: weatherspoons, yates's, woolworths, pound shops.Phonofiction found solace ins the shared influences they experienced in the record store and art school where the members met.Drawing upon key influences- early Hip Hop, Pavement, Beck, Palace, outsider music and film- their early demos caught the ear of Claire Sturgess who made country/hip-hop throwaway single Gold her XFM single of the week.
Juxtaposing guitars and drum machines with vocalist Doms deceptively powerful voice, we soon found an ally in Nick Abbott, Subways and Magic Numbers producer who we got on with like a house on fire and shared a cynical sense of humour and a love of sounds.
Multi-instrumental and multimedia performances have included soundtracking Chris Markers La Jetee, supporting the Broken Family Band & 80s Matchbox B-Line disaster, and energetic sets with home made videos and backdrops. Our debut album is written, and we are working in getting it down at the moment. In between takes we have developed our alter ego- The Straw Bear band, and are eagerly anticipating the finished masters from long time friends and musical allies The Electric Cinema.
