The music of amp 11 is described by the band as "alt-pop" somewhere in the vein of Snow Patrol and Coldplay. It's a mixture of pop/rock (ie strong melody lines and catchy instrumentation) combined with bits and pieces of alt, rock, and a few more odds and ends to make it something a bit more unique than your typical Top 40 music.
amp 11 started as a collaboration between Mike Vesely and Aaron Peterson. They recorded a few originals several years ago. Mike then moved away for grad school but has since returned to Duluth. With the addition of a drummer and bassist the line-up of amp 11 is shaping up nicely.
"Change" was recorded several years ago by Mike and Aaron as a demo of some original music Mike had written. While it's evolved a bit from the original recordings they're a good representation of amp 11's style and sound.
"Why Don't You" and "This Time" wererecorded at a recent live shows here in Duluth. Since it was just a recording direct from the soundboard it's not the best recording ever, but it's more representative of amp 11's live sound than the other two recordings.
