About Me

I like to smell my own farts and talk confidently about things I know nothing about. Did I mention that I'm too good for any of you people and probably wouldn't give you my seat on the train even if you're bleeding from your knee caps?

My Interests

Music, going to gigs, science and the smart people who are good at it, thinking about interesting things and meeting new people who like to talk about interesting things, strong coffee, dumb books, smart books, dumb movies, smart movies, board games played at the pub, fresh limes, massages, lipstick and lip gloss, shoes, neuroscience and kittens. I really like kittens.

I'd like to meet:

Interesting folks who can appreciate a good fart joke and a good meal. Though not necessarily at the same time. And Bill Hicks. Too bad he's dead.

Music:

Heavy rock, baby. We're talking Acid Bath, Pod People, Dozer, Tool, Colour Haze, Orange Goblin, Earth, Alice in Chains, The Cult, The Black Keys, Palace in Thundeland, Karma to Burn, Captain Beyond, Starchild, Sheavy, Electric Wizard, Monster Magnet, Atomic Bitchwax, Led Zep, Yes, Kyuss, 35007, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Thumlock, Tool, Tumbleweed, Soledad Brothers, and Metallica (yes Metallica. Damn you you haters!). And then there's kinder, gentler side of Nic which includes stuff like Cat Stevens, Bert Jansch, Jackson C Frank, Nick Drake, the Beatles. Oh, and Duran Duran too. It's gotta have passion, soul and guts if it's going to get my head bobbing and my hips swinging.

Movies:

This is too hard. There are so many. Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fog of War, Supersize Me, The Hot Chick, Lord of the Rings, Dean Man Walking, Touching the Void, The Sure Thing, Nothing, Chopper, So I Married an Ax Murderer, Lost in Translation, Bridget Jones Diary, Chocolat. And then there are those cheesy disaster movies like Dantes Peak, The Poseidon Adventure, The Day after Tomorrow, Twister, and Deep Impact that I can't resist.

Television:

Light and fluffy works for me - Sex and the City, Buffy, Frasier, West Wing, Kath & Kim. Actually, that's all I can think of at the moment. TV really sucks now. Oh wait, I have to confess to loving Star Trek: The Next Generation. Do you still want to talk me? I understand if you don't. It's a cross us Trek fans have to bear.

Books:

Anything by science write Ed Regis. He writes crazy books like "Great Mambo Chicken and the Transhuman Condition" which is about the weird genuis type people who are into bizarre science like cryogenics. I loved "Guns, Germs and Steel", by Jared Diamond. One of the best books I've ever read. I don't read a lot of fiction but when I do, I'm partial to Margaret Atwood. What an insanely talented writer. Also have to include Geoffery Eugenides (Middlesex, The Virgin Suicides) and Amy Tan in my list.

Heroes:

Anyone who gets through this life without going crazy, while doing some good and can mix a mean martini. Simple. Heh.

My Blog

I had forgotten about this place

I just rediscovered this site a couple of days ago. I think I signed up over a year ago, set up a boring profile and then promptly forgot about it. I wonder how long it will take before I forget about...
