Who Is Pozzie?
Pozzie is a systematic talent; born in West Philadelphia. Pozzie's world was filled with Music, Fashion, and a deep passion for the arts at a very early age.
As a little girl growing up in West Oak Lane, Pozzie filled her days under her Grandmothers knee exposed to the world of fashion. Under her grandmother's tutelage Pozzie soon developed a love for fashion, and soon she began to develop her own style and put her mark in the fashion industry.
Pozzie went on to study fashion design in Los Angeles, California. Right after graduation, Pozzie left California, and moved back to Philadelphia to develop her own clothing line. She knew that New York was the place she ultimately needed to be for fashion. She would commute from Philadelphia to New York on a daily basis to meet with seamstresses, visit fabric shops, and meet with buyers. After months of commuting Pozzie packed up and moved away from the nest to make her new home in Brooklyn, New York, soon after that Pozzie contrived her first collection for her clothing line, Rosalind Gene.
Naturally for Pozzie along with fashion came a natural progression into music. She always had it in her saying, "My father was a musician and although he was away a lot living the life of a musician, music was something that was a part of me. It was a way for me to be connected to my dad, so it was a natural progression for me. Once I worked so hard to accomplish forming my fashion company, Rosalind Gene, I still felt incomplete there was something missing."
Pozzie took that step, and let her mind and heart take over the pen and pad. She takes her inspiration from not only her life experiences of pain, heartbreak,happiness, revelations, family, but from the fashion world as well. Delving into music was a natural progression for Pozzie. "I feel complete now that I am able to express myself creatively through singing, writing music, working with artist, and of course designing clothes." Pozzie is a real 80's baby(born in the 80's) that grew up in the 90's world, and is taking inspiration from several artists , "I am influenced by so many artists Prince, Shirley Bassey, Beastie Boys, Nas, Slick Rick, Jay-Z... to name a few. I love the art of storytelling and coming up with words that allow people to see a visual when they hear a song that I wrote."
Although Pozzie does not have the typical story that you hear about from most artist of how they discovered their talents, she has the undeniable talent, creativity, ambition, and drive of a veteran artist.
