The Jones Gang

British Rock Legends form The Jones Gang

About Me

These three musicians have performed on some of the most popular and critically acclaimed rock recordings of all time - including "Stay With Me," "It's Only Rock and Roll," and "Juke Box Hero," and have sold a combined 50 million records throughout their careers. Now with the help of some of their prestigious mates, this trio of well respected British rockers - Kenney Jones (Small Faces, The Faces, The Who), Rick Wills (Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Small Faces) and Robert Hart (Bad Company) - have formed The Jones Gang and have released their first album in early August, 2005. Titled Any Day Now the CD was released on AAO Music's Reality label.

Any Day Now delivers on its pedigree. With 11 songs co-written by Hart and produced by Gary Stevenson, the album rocks hard with sweeping harmonies, well-crafted melodies and rootsy guitar riffs, and possesses the same appeal that has cemented the timelessness of their former bands. For the recording Jones (drums), Wills (bass) and Hart (vocals) enlisted a who'swho of British rock lore, including Rolling Stones axeman Ronnie Wood (who performed on the song, Gypsy Lane" and designed the album cover), Gary Grainger (Rod Stewart, Ringo Starr), Ian McLagan (Faces), Dave "Bucket" Colwell (Bad Company), and others. In fact, the album represents the closest reunion to either the original lineups of the Small Faces, or the Faces, in recent memory.

The album is boosted by the tight chemistry between the members of The Jones Gang, while clearly demonstrating each of the member's signature styles. The propulsive album opener, "Time Of Your Life" is elevated by the trademark powerful drum fills Jones employed in such classics as the Small Faces' "Afterglow" and "My Way of Giving." Hart evokes the raspy soul and grit of his Bad Company days, and Wills pitches in with distinctive bass lines that were also an integral part of Peter Frampton's early solo recordings. Some tunes even pay tribute to the hazy, mind altering effects of the late '60s and early '70s, including the mid-Eastern hooked and phased choruses in "Time Of Your Life," the mid-tempo folksy whimsy of "Mr. Brown" and the country rock feel of "Hole In My Soul." Indeed, scorching rockers like "Red Hot,: "Lucy" and Six To Midnight" reinforce that these Gang members remain a force to be reckoned with.
