I love punk rock, playing piano and singing, bowling, going to gigs, watching films, talking Japanese and meeting friends - whether we stay in or go out I just love to talk to people.I love films of all kinds, prefer smaller cinemas, you don..t always need a massive screen and loads of special effects.
Well of course I'd love to meet a sexy lady who's got her head screwed on to restore my faith in the world and myself and show me some good times.......... who wouldn't? Generally I like people who are easy-going and open minded - you don..t have to be into any of the same things as me as long as you accept differences and are interested in SOMETHING!! Anyone who can give me interesting conversation, like-minded ladies looking for some fun times, anyone into good music to go to gigs with, queers to do "queer stuff" with, anyone who speaks Japanese or Cantonese to practise with.......all kinds of people really!
Many many melodic, pop, hardcore, skate and other types of punk bands, anything with a passionate positive message, anything that is real and coming from the heart... I know it sounds cheesy but anything that is written and performed by someone who has something important to say, or just means what they say, And nothing too pretentious either......Some faves past and present: eels, Tilt, Diesel Boy, CIV, Mindless Self Indulgence, No Use for a Name, Sugarcult, Ben Folds, Ella Fitzgerald, Adequate Seven, No Comply, Sonic Boom Six, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Little Richard, Weird Al Yankovich, Beastie Boys, System of a Down, Midtown, Rancid, Zombina & the Skeletones, the Mingers, MU330, Asian Kung Fu Generation, Atom & His Package.......
I love all sorts of films and love going to the cinema, but it's too pricy to go too often! Oldy worldy cinemas are ace. As for genres, I can enjoy almost anything, I just love a story well told, and am a big fan of comedy like the Stone/Parker movies, Naked Gun, Stephen Chow or most silly cult/action/sci fi movies (I love all the 80s/90s era action stuff like Terminator). Love all the View Askew ones and 705... I'm into martial arts films and generally like watching anything in Cantonese or Japanese. 50s comedy/musical type stuff is great as it was all about the dialogue and no special effects!A few faves: Terminator 1&2, Alien trilogy, Tank Girl, House of Flying Daggers, Metropolis (animé), Baseketball, Clerks & Mallrats, Once Upon a Time in China trilogy, Some Like it Hot, Casablanca, Kill Bill, Shaolin Soccer,
I HATE TV don't get me STARTED!! Argh. Ok I suppose there are a few series I have got into, like Red Dwarf, Six Feet Under, Friends, Futurama and Simpsons - I like things that are funny or intelligent but as that only accounts for about .01% of eveything that's on TV I do not watch telly at all, I only have a TV set for videos and DVDs. I love films but there is too much trash on telly. So in short, I just hate.... Any reality TV, Soap operas, pointless documentaries about ordinary things - ordinary people are boring dammit that's why we have fiction!!, Repeats of repeats of repeats, spin offs, best ofs, 100 greatest...., oh wait, that's just about everything isn't it!!
Well I love reading although I don't get enough time for it cos I'm always reading textbooks for my course (boo) Some of my favourites are: Fay Weldon, Ben Elton, Iain Banks, Robert Swindells who are all people I have read a lot of books by! But I have also enjoyed...... John Grisham, Tom Holt, Sarah Waters, Stuart Harrison, Stephen King, Nick Hornby, John O'Farrell, Michael Moore........ and I am pro-Potter. Generally I suppose I like thrillers, some sci-fi/horror stuff, comedy things and fiction or non-fiction by political/socially concerned authors or concerning feminist/female/gay issues. I sometimes read Punk Planet, Diva, Big Cheese & Alternative Press but struggle to find any magazine I truely identify with or enjoy in its entirety......
