About Me

I love to travel..My favorite place right now is NYC. I have a few good internet friends that live in that area and we have a blast going to cabaret shows and bars and just chat. I love Broadway Music. So I try to go at least once a year or two. My friends and I are into seeing Diva Betty Buckley perform. She won a Tony Award for CATS...shes the one who sang Memory. I have a nephew who has a CD out www.justinutley.comI am a widow, Bob and I met over the internet via AOL. He was 48 and I was 36. We started emailing each other starting in Feb 1997. In April 1997 I gave him my home phone number. Well let’s just say we talked every day for two months until he came out to Utah and visited me for the weekend in June on his way to Denver from Stockton, CA. to see friends. He had the summer off as he was in school administration. He stayed in Salt Lake in a hotel and I met him at a restaurant for dinner. When I first saw him, I went over and gave him a kiss. It was like we had known each other forever. Mind you I never was that bold before, it just happened. The next day I showed him the sights etc. He then came over on Sunday afternoon for lunch. We listened to music and danced and he gave me a bazooka. LOL. He then asked me if he could come back the following weekend and asked me the name of the fanciest restaurant in town was and then he made reservations for the following Saturday. Let’s just say it was totally magical. I am a big fan and accquaintance of a certain Broadway singer and he found out she would be playing in San Francisco with an orchestra in the middle of July and invited me out there. I of course went and we had dinner overlooking the bay; that’s when he proposed to me. I said yes; we then went to the concert. Afterwards I took him back stage to meet this woman and when she saw my ring she told everyone backstage and they all applauded. We first set the wedding date for June of 1998. I went back out to CA in October for an engagement party he was throwing in my honor at the house he owned. He knew I loved Jacuzzis so he bought one for the back yard. I met all his friends and co-workers. It was a great time. In December he came out during the holidays, one evening we went into town for a Christmas light show. Well the snow turned into a full blown blizzard and we became stranded and had to stay in a hotel. Being in his arms that night watching the snow fall, it was just so magical. We then decided to push up the wedding date to coincide with his Easter break. We were married in April of 1998. I moved the next day to CA. We waited for an official honeymoon in June when we went to NYC. We both loved music and the theater. It was a very happy first year. Then in March-April of 1999 he became ill with what we thought was a flu bug. But he just couldn’t shake it off. A week before school let out for the summer he broke out in a terrible rash. I took him to the ER where they did blood tests etc and sent him home. No sooner than we walked into the door the phone rang, It was the hospital…He was in Kidney failure. Later that week he had surgery on his arm to prepare him for dialysis three days a week. The doctor then told us he was only born with one kidney. He never knew that until then. He had polio as a child but recovered from it and they think the polio damaged his only kidney. He had no siblings and both his parents were dead and I wasn’t a candidate to give him a kidney so he was put on a waiting list at Stanford University. Over that year he became sicker etc. He finally told me maybe it would be better if we move to Utah where my family was; that way we would have a support system. Plus he like the dialysis centers here better than in CA. We were going to wait to sell the house later and our plans were to move in with my widowed mother for awhile. A few days before we were to leave I went to pick him up at the dialysis center and noticed fire engines and paramedics. In my heart of hearts I knew it was for Bob. I hurried in as they were shocking his heart. They got him revived but he was in and out of consciousness for 10 days in the ICU never really knowing who he or I was and on life support. Every time they would give him dialysis he had another coronary. Finally on the tenth day he had a massive attack after dialysis. The doctors told me they couldn’t give him any more dialysis treatments. I then said enough is enough take him off life support and they agreed with me. I was with him when they disconnected the life support. I held his hand and told him I loved him and thank him for being my life and it was ok for him to go as he had suffered enough. After two minutes he was gone. This was on September 16, 2000. His wishes were to be cremated. I moved back to Utah for good and had him buried next to my Dad. A few months later I sold the house in CA and bought my moms house and totally remodeled it. We live together in the same house.
