The Hummingbirds

Alt-Country Twang!

About Me

Buzzing around Southeastern Michigan since the Spring of 2003, The Hummingbirds are certainly creating a buzz of their own. Expect a twangy mix of memorable melodies and sweet harmonies from this unique “electro-coustic” outfit formed around Detroit-area songwriting duo Stephen Grant Wood and Rachel Lynn.
Wood (songwriting, electric guitar & vocals) lays out dynamite electric tone & riffs with the experience of a past winner at the Detroit Music Awards and Jim Beam Country Caravan Contest in Nashville, Tenn. While songwriter Rachel Lynn (songwriting, acoustic guitar & vocals) adds hauntingly beautiful vocals along with rock steady rhythm and a fresh edge.
The current full length self titled release, is an in-studio taste of their "wonderful chemistry onstage" (noted by Bill Keith, Concert Coordinator at Trinity House Theatre). And with their second album due out in 2007, look to The Hummingbirds' “buzz” reaching many more discerning ears.
We get a lot of our inspiration from classic country music of the 50's and 60's. Nobody does it like Loretta Lynn or George Jones anymore. There's so much great country music that's lost to this generation. We're just trying to incorporate that sound into what we do as The Hummingbirds.
As well as performing as a duo, the H-Birds will whip up a full band when needed.
