About Me

My profile was customized using the Taming the Beast.net MySpace Layout Generator
Don't ask me to explain myself. Just watch what I do. I have many talents and skills, but I kinda suck at talking shop. Save the name dropping and bullshitting for someone who cares. I prefer conversations about life experiences and the inner self. I am extremely imaginative and I have very little in the way of mental and verbal filters. I try to stay away from vampires and masked individuals because they are often incapable of reciprocating the genuine emotions that I throw out. There are many things I do because I feel naturally compelled, because I am excited by experiments of perspective, or because I cannot help myself. There are many things I know which I cannot put into words. I'm determined to learn more about communication every day. You may just hear some solid theology or politics out of me when I am more confident in my ideas. Until then, I will be listening attentively and taking notes. As a being of constant change, I go through many different phases, cycles, and transitions. I have been feeling a bit socially awkward lately, preferring one on one get togethers and small gatherings over big parties, but I still love to get out there and dance when the music is right. I am most comfortable in situations where being honest will not embarrass me or get me into trouble. I expect the people I associate with to return the honesty I give to them. Nothing is more important to me than the real honest truth. Anything less is an insult and a waste of my time. Music is the most powerful force in my universe. It keeps me sane on so many levels, so Please do not take it personally if I camp out and take over the stereo at your house. I am in the process of a creative writing degree with a minor in drawing and painting at Georgia State University. It is my dream to create cartoons. I am scheduled to take classes at Northumbria University in Newcastle, England from fall 2008 thru spring 2009.

My Interests

Glitter GraphicsSHINY THINGS. art. human creations of all kinds. the work of others as well as my own. i have experimented with many media in my lifetime, including: cooking, painting (mostly with acrylics), sculpting, ceramics, mosaic, stained glass, sketching, character design, photography, animation, writing prose, poetry, essays, journaling, short stories and other compositions. I have also been known to play the accordion, drums, vibraphones, and other percussive instruments. I'm currently learning to use ableton live for sampling and other digital nonsense.
Animated GifsI have been deeply inspired by certain visual artists, such as Brian Froud, Marc Hempel, Salvador Dali, M.C. Escher, Sam Kieth, Dave McKean, Jamie Hewlett, Johnnen Vasquez, and others. ive had some of their work etched into my skin already, and i dont plan to stop until they are all represented somehow. I enjoy reading, but dont make as much time for it as I once did. In my hay day I was quite the comic book junkie, but I havent kept up with them in years. More recently i have replaced that chunk of media real estate with video games. I was born and raised a Nintendo girl, but I wont say no to a few nuggets of joy from the Playstation. Some of my favorite games are: KATAMARI DAMACY, all things mario, EarthBound, Lumines, Soul Calibur 3, most square RPGs, maniac mansion, shadowgate and the like, just about any puzzle game i have ever been able to find, and dont forget NEVERHOOD and KINGDOM OF LOATHING (second ascension accordion thief, bitchezz). Aside from that, I'm pretty fascinated with insects of all shapes and sizes. I am convinced they are even more important to the fate of this world than humans.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

I am generally most fond of music that is composed of various and unique sound sources, and communicates some genuinely creative idea. at the same time, theres plenty of other music i listen to solely because of emotions or memories that have become associated with it over time. whatever the case, i am not usually fully entertained by your run of the mill "bass, guitar, drum, and keyboard" formula. i prefer a full spectrum of textural organic and electronically synthesized sounds in various combinations. i get some of my life's most thorough enjoyment out of SOUNDS - so it feels natural to return this joy to the universe through making my own sounds. some of my favorite sounds are: the accordion, the vibraphones, the stringed bass, nintendo synths, moogs, and the female voice.
Animated Gifsas far as music, i enjoy a little bit of everything - including, but not limited to: They Might Be Giants, Negativland, Video Game Music, Beck, WIERD AL, Dr. Cockroach, Ween, Air, Juliana Hatfield, Orbital, Blackalicious, Tori Amos, Stereolab, Gogol Bordello, Garbage, The Sundays, Enya, Coil, Bjork, Roisin Murphy, That Dog, Goldfrapp, Julie London, Keely Smith, Peggy Lee, April Stevens, Portishead, Psychic Television, The Spice Girls, The KLF, Blumchen, KMFDM, The Rentals, Johnny Cash, Terry S Taylor, Morphine, The Flaming Lips, Cyndi Lauper, The Cranberries, The Breeders, Madonna, Sinead, Wendy Carlos, Radiohead, Foetus, Steroid Maximus, and all manner of classic rock, early nineties alternative, big band, swing, ska, industrial, IDM, hip hop, zydeco, jazz, classical, noise, etc. To me, the most satisfying of all music is 1950s - 1960s lounge music. And remember, all you emo kids - just because i enjoy radiohead and pavement doesnt mean im up for listening to your awful whining. i dont want to hear any of this "oh, i eat emo kids for breakfast, i hate that shit!". whatever you are, if you feature a grown man whining/"screaming" pathetically into a microphone about his bland and generic worldview, your music sucks and you wont get anywhere with me, so take your friend requests elsewhere.

Movies:

NaKeD LuNcH, Microcosmos, The Labyrinth, Kids In The Hall: Brain Candy, Lebowski, Lord Of The Rings (trilogy), and anything by terry gilliam or tim burton. im also a huge fan of blood guts and gore, gimme the horror and nightmare fodder as fast as you can. i could go into details about every silly little movie and director i have ever liked, but it all boils down to pretentious bullshit and name dropping. i spent 4 of the last ten years watching 10 - 15 movies per week. ive missed alot of classics - especially those released in the last 2 years - but ive definately seen my fair share of films from all over the world.

Television:

i mostly use mine for video games. i will only watch television programming without commercials, either on dvd or the internet. cartoons and animation are my favorite. I love adult swim - im most fond of what i like to call "the golden era" of adult swim. ie: BRAK and space ghost and friends - also Aqua Teens and Sealab - you know what im talking about. then theres family guy, robot chicken, venture brothers, south park, futurama, and the simpsons. i used to watch random sitcoms, some prime time, and a bunch of sketch comedy shows, but after the last few seasons of x - files television was never quite the same for me. until i found arrested development...

Books:

im a big fan of certain authors: Douglas Adams always comes first, followed by Hunter S Thompson and JK Rowling. I also like Neil Gaiman, Jack Kerouak, and Terry Pratchett. I admit I have stuck to mostly surreal / satirical fantasy and fiction because that is what i enjoy most. I am sure this list will grow as i get back into school and am forced to read the real shit.

Heroes:

From Top: Brian Froud, Douglas Adams, Juliana Hatfield, John Linnell, The Brothers Hartnoll/Orbital, Hunter S Thompson, David Bowie, Terry Pratchett, Danny Elfman, JG Thirlwell/Foetus, Jackson Publik and Doc Hammer, Ben Edulund, Mike Patton, Mike Paradinas, The Simpsons.
