Background from Google search resultTHA-R, rapper, singer, songwriter, composer and lyricist, grew up in Nigeria. He started as a member of the rap group THUGGED OUT MOB (or T.O.M.). He rapped with a twist-tongue style together with another member of the group, BUSTA-B, while the rest of the members had gangster-hip-hop method or an R&B tongue, among them, HALF BURNT. THA-R had been with the Nigerian-based label Impact Records and had worked with African music sensations like SMOKEY-B from INDO CLAN (artist), SOKLEMS (artist), B. SLINGA (artist), YOUNG S.T. (artist), ABU (producer), Blast (producer) and others. In 2004 he left Nigeria for the Philippines, thus leaving Impact Records. He is now finding his way back to doing the things he loves best, which are writing and making music. But he is now exploring other genres than hip-hop, expanding his horizons to reggae R&B, Dance-hall, including Afro-beat. He is the artist with a new flavor to music in Manila, mixing musical influences from both Nigeria and the Philippines. Putting together electronic beats with the organic vibe of real instruments in his compositions, while seamlessly alternating from English to Tagalog to Heavy English to Pigeon English in his lyrics, most of THA-R’s music has a unique culture that reflects his soul and life story. At present, THA-R is performing his danceable hip-hop, R&B and dance-hall tunes solo at different bars and clubs in the metro, writing new songs along the way. He is working with TALIBAN, KALAMAGZ of the band MAKOPA and more to come his way. Recently, THA-R is seen performing old-fashioned reggae, roots and dub musical and lyrical creations as a member of the reggae band AJOINT PROJEKT (Mic - Tha-R, Lead strings - Marlon, Keys - Erwin, Base strings - Fern, Sticks - Rani), and they are now carving a niche for themselves in the local music industry.
