I am simple and easy going, I just roll with the punches ;o)
I am also one of the founding memebers of the Die deutschen Kameraden. The DdK came into existence when a group of like minded mid Westerners decided that they wanted a slightly different focus to air-cooled VW gatherings. Parades and picnics have their place with the likeable German cars; but this group prefers the whine of straight-cut gears, the roar of large carburetors, and an occasional street light romp with some Detroit Iron. Thus, the DdK was born with a focus on performance air-cooled VW's and a commitment to participation at VW and Sport Compact events.... something that many other groups have to continually push for. Although many of our cars can win shows, our perspective is on do-it yourself performance; and many 'comrades" competitively drag race. We strive to not exclude those that cannot afford or do not want a $30,000.00 car.
We are the common folk with a common liking..... speed and fun... camaraderie. If we seem like something you'd like to be a part or, then come hang with us at the next VW event and we'll talk about membership. Our group is structured unlike most clubs. We do not have any dues and our officers aren't really officers at all. Our government is shared amongst the group. We also share responsibilities for maintaining the website, forums, and etc. This is a group of enthusiasts willing to help organize attendance in their local areas. Members are encouraged to incite interest in new events to attend as a group. With a main focus on participation and performance, we intend to become a respected element of the mid-Western air-cooled VW performance world.
