Ford Motor Company Of Australia

The Ford Motor Company of Australia was established in 1925, in Geelong Victoria. It was established as an outpost for the Canadian Ford Company LTD. The British Empires group of Ford Companies was handed over to Canadian investors by Henry Ford. It originally built Model T Fords from Complete Knock Down (CKD) kits supplied from The Canadian Ford Group. In 1960, the Falcon was introduced from the U.S. The Falcon, though, was not suited to Australian roads, but after much revising became a popular family car. In 1972, The XA Falcon was released as the first fully Aussie Falcon, since then, the Falcon has become the only fully Australian designed and built car, also the only Aussie car to have its own fully Aussie designed and built High Volume Motor. Ford Australia also invented the Ute (utility). During the great depression, banks would not extend credit to farmers to purchase passenger cars as they were seen as an unnecessary luxury, they would only give credit to work vehicles, so Ford created the Ute as an alternative, you could use it all week at work, then take the missus to church on sunday. Ford also assembled the Canadian Ford V8. Falcons have dominated in use as taxis, due to their reliablity, and have been used widely as police cars. In 2004, Ford released the territory, also Australian designed and built. Built on the same production line as the Falcon, it has been the most popular 4X4 in Australia since its release.
